Is it possible for me to go into my service provider's kiosk and get my address book transfered from my broken phone to the new phone without the sim card inside the old one? It operates without the sim but not when there is a sim inside at the moment. It took me for ever to even get it to do this, I needed to cancel reminder alarms and stuff but I got it to work.
When in the mode without the SIM it works fine. I can get to the settings section where i can change it to Nokia Mode to USB but I know that I can not access the address book on the phone with the phone without the SIM.
Help guys, i need to send this old phone back or they will charge me 70 bucks which I find redicious since I paid for a defective phone from the start it seems. I have had the phone for 8 months and this was the first time I turned the phone off, and when i turned it back on again all this stuff happened and I had no idea all the numbers from my old, old phone that got transfered where transfered to the phone memory and not to the sim and at the same time any new contacts that I gathered in the last 8 months went into the phone memory too. I have NO backups! Sure. Now I have a backup service in place but too late.
I need my 5 years worth of contacts. Please help. I promise I will back up in the future, I already have :-)
I know I haven't payed for premium but I haven't heard back from FixYa regarding a question about it that is not mentioned in the FAQ.
I really need an answer from an expert today =(
Please? Anyone?
I am not even sure if I can't get the contacts out now concidering since my service provider did not provide me with a 2nd battery and 2nd battery door so i can mess with this thing. The phone cmos has lost it's charge and now I am back to square one. Now it is asking for the date and time and it freezes if i press any buttons.
I really need my contacts out and I don't have much time until i need to send the old phone back or i will be charged 60 bucks.
Is there ANY way that my provider would be able to get the numbers out if I send it back or are they just going to nuke the whole thing and not care?

This service sucks. No questions get answered wihtout having to shell out money. Even e-mails to customer support in regards to questions about premium service do not get replied.
It has been 24 hours and I have not received an answer about my question.
I was thinking of geting Premium Support but the FAQ and trhe other areas made it unclear as to what I was getting for my $9.99. I e-mail customer support and nothing until this morning when i got an e-mail regarding my question inquiring if I have found a solution yet and if not they are offering the premium assistance plan.
This is NOT cool and NOT professional.
This website has no human feel to it.
Thank you FixYa. I hvae now lost 5 years of contacts.

There's a program that can reprogram or clone an existing SIM card especially if the SIM card is not working anymore. This can be seen in various forums online. If you're just concerned about transferring all your contact/address book information, you can simply delete all the record of your SIM card and then transfer the new records from your phone to your SIM. One last thing to not is that if your SIM cannot be detected on all phones, then the SIM maybe broken anymore and any data inside it cannot be retrieved anymore since it's a chip issue which cannot be fixed.
You will have to transfer your contacts one at a time. To export a contact's phone number to a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in a BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
Open the Address Book application from the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen.
Click the contact that you want to transfer to your SIM card.
Highlight the phone number you would like to transfer.
Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Click Copy to SIM Phone Book.
Make sure that you are attempting to transfer the correct informaton to your SIM card.
Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone, and click Save.
If it is a CDMA phone, take it to the service provider and ask them to transfer it to their computer and put it on your USB flash drive or your new phone. If you are using a SIM card (GSM phone) you can transfer the numbers to the SIM card using the phone menu and place the SIM card in the other phone. With a SIM card reader, you can download the information to your computer.
have you tried going to the setup wizard. There under device setup just choose the Import Sim Card Contacts. Then it will run and you sim card contacts should be transfered to your phone.
You can connect it to a pc via the usb port and transfer all of it into the computer. Some programs actually allow you to see the screens of the phone on the pc so try that out.
To do this kind of transfer you would use the old phone sims card or memory card to save to the new phone. Another way is to sign in to you cell phone provider website. From there you may be able to download all your items to your new phone. From the computer to the phone wirelessly. You may need their customer service help to guide you thru the steps.
Another solution to your problem would be to connect ur phone to a computer and transfer your phonebook thru your pc. Just secure a data cable and download the appropriate softwares. good luck
There should be a menu that when you put in a simcard, go to your address book and you can select each contact off the card, then select copy to phone.
when you put back in your new sim card you have the option to transfer your contacts to the sim card, although you will then have duplicate copies of contacts and you will need to delete the contacts off the phone if you wish to keep them on the sim card only.
