Laptop doesn't see Teca cassette deck

you need an old fasion tape player and a program like magic audio cleaning lab or on pc program that will convert your tape (Analog ) to digital (MP3). Then just plug a lead from your tapplayer into the AUX of your computer and run the pc program which will load the cassttee on to a digital file. Then using the same program just burn the file to dvd as a mpg3 file.

If the laptop has an audio in socket then all you need is one of these: Amazon stock them. 3.5 plug to two RCA plugs.

The product arrived with an instruction manual. I followed the instructions, installed the included software, and then was unable to get the product to work as my PC (Windows 7) did not seem to recognize the device. I tried several USB ports to no avail. I emailed the seller and promptly received an email with different instructions. Although the software version on the installation CD was different from that referenced in the instructions, I was able to install and finally got the device to work as needed. The problem is that there are two programs on the installation CD and one (cassettemate) appears not to function, while the other (audacity) is what is needed. This is not indicated in the instructions that come with the device.Close cassette mate window and open audacity press play in the cassette player and press recording button in audacity program.

Your question is posted under a "CD Shelf System" heading. If you really have one of these, the answer is "you can't". The CD player is a player only, not a recorder.

On the other hand, if what you're asking is how to transfer cassette tapes to CD using a computer, there are a couple of ways. One is to connect a cassette player (boom box, component system cassette deck, etc.) to the line-in jack of your computer's sound card. Download and install Audacity, which is free software for recording and editing sound. Then you can record the sound from your cassettes as you play them into the computer.

Another option, If you want to be fancy and spend a little money, is to buy a USB cassette deck. It automatically converts the cassette audio to digital and sends it to your computer over a USB cable. Recording software is supplied (sometimes the Audacity program mentioned before). Several companies make them. Here's one from a company called ION that some friends of mine have, and it seems to work well for them. They've been converting a lot of tapes of family members, and Audacity has been good for cleaning up tape hiss and enhancing the sound.

Either way, once you have the sound in your computer and processed to your liking, you just need to burn it to a CD using whatever burning software you have. (I use CDBurnerXP. It's free, easy to use, and does everything needed for normal CD and DVD burning.)

I use a simple program (FREE) called Audacity (audacity.com). It allows you to capture the song(s) and then save them as a .wav or MPEG file on your computer. From there you can burn a CD. You will need a cable (Radio Shack) to connect the AUDIO OUT on your tape player to your MIC input on your laptop. There are a variety of connector types but the folks at Radio Shack can help. Pretty easy to use and AUDACITY has a tutorial on "how to" do it.

you need a RCA Y connector jack (2 male RCA jacks to 1 mini) and this software http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ the 2 RCA jacks will be place in the out on the tape deck or receiver and the mini to your mic jack on laptop... the software audacity will also give you the choice of what type of file to use (mp3 takes up less on the laptop)

note this will be in real time (if the tape is 30 min , yep 30 it is).. now once you get it converted its gonna be a matter or seconds to copy (record)

Easiest way I can think of is as follows:
1. Connect the "phones" of your cassette player to the "Line in" of your PC. Line In is coloured blue, you will need a a 3.5" to 3.5" male audio cable.
2. Next, install some sound capturing program on your computer. I can recommend Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
3. Start the cassette player, check the volume levels, do some short test records. Once you are satisfied with the result, rewind and record side A of the cassette, then side B. Using again Audacity, you can cut the desired parts of the record and save them in the format and quality you like, I guess *.mp3.
4. Burn the files to a CD. You can use CD Burner XP Pro: http://cdburnerxp.se/

You need a tape deck with line out jacks. Hook up line out jacks to line in jack on your computer. You'll need appropriate software to do the conversion - for example Audacity - it's free.
