Printer repeats Printer error Fatal Code:0xF1 and won't respond to any commands
I had this error and paper was jammed, but also the print head as stuck like the next answer below. There was a little plastic lever stuck up below the print head. I moved the print head carefully to one side, pressed the white plastic lever down and it clucked into place. Moved the print head back to the right and switched on. It then complained about the paper jam. Pulled that out and it was good to go. Maybe the jam caused the other problem?
yes ! a paper jam. everywhere else I looked gave me complicated responses

Call Toll-Free + 1-866-231-0111 Epson Error Code 0xf1 is called a commonly encountered key error owing to corrupted computer system registry entry. I had the same error and I could find no information on what it was or how to fix it so I decided to go trial and error. What I found is that this relates to the print head not being able to completely pass from the left to right side during startup. I had a plastic carriage on the one side that was stuck in a position that stop the carriage from make the complete run from side to side. When I forced the plastic carriage down and it clicked into place the error stopped and the printer started up normally with no codes. If anything is causing the print head to not travel completely from left to right during startup, this will probable cause the code. It will be hard to see if the print head is being obstructed if you don't remove the sides. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Epson printer says "cannot recognize ink cartridges".
Are you using genuine epson cartridges? Many generics simply dont work on the newer printers. Once the printer decides the cartridge is empty, it sends a signal to the chip and that's it. You might hear ink, but if the chip says empty you can't use it. It also has the annoying habit of doing this when there's still 10-15% of the ink left.
I use reusable cartridges from http://www.ccs-digital.com They hold 2/3 more ink and the chips automatically reset to full if you remove and re-insert the cartridge. Instead of replacing the entire cartridge when it's empty, you pop out an internal ink tank and replace just that. So you know the chip has already been recognized by your printer. The ink tanks cost under $3. I think these are a brilliant invention.
