SOURCE: Formatting the iriver x20
I think you need to have a Windows XP w/SP1 or later and USB 2.0 port to connect to. Any older operating system/Pc will not do. Once you make the connection, simply Right-Click on the new drive letter (PC would have created for the player) and click <Format> followed by <start> .

If your player freezes on "Building Library" (usually a result of putting certain type of .m3u playlists or too big images in id3 tag):
1. Turn the player off - you may need to take the battery out to do this.
2. Hold the menu button in.
3. Still holding the menu button in, press the power button.
4. Keep holding both buttons in until you get a dialogue asking if you want to format internal memory ... say yes.
5. Your internal memory will be formatted and you will now be able to start your X20.
Try to figure out what file is causing X20 to freeze - i've found that pretty much any .m3u file will make it freeze on building library ... only about 2-3 out of about 100 i've tried have worked.
SOURCE: IRiver X20 Docking station
IRiver does not make a proprietary dock for this player; other manufacturers do not make them for IRiver because iRiver is a small player. You can take your IRiver into a Best Buy or other shop and test it in another company's dock, but it is not guaranteed to work. This is the only truthful answer I can give you.
SOURCE: How do i add album art to iriver x20?
if your using wmp11 you should just be able to drag and drop.
if not right click the song/album and go to advanced tag editor, pictures and then add manually.
half the time it just wont come up because the tag doesn't read properly and the other half the album art that wmp11 downloads and applys automatically will come up!
its kind of up to chance! if you're lucky it works if not live with it its the X20!
ps the iriver plus 3 and itunes also can apply album art
SOURCE: iRiver X20 not reading SD card
yes this is correct, you can only have the same size memory card as what your iriver was originally. eg when I bought mine it was a 2GB so there for I could only add a 2GB memory card in it giving me a total of 4GB. if you buy a SD card of the same GB you wont have a problem
