I have a brand new Sony Ericsson W380, fully charged, connecting to my computer in phone mode successfully, but in file transfer mode, the SonyEricsson Media Manager does not recognize the phone. At the same time, the phone goes blank, non responsive, even after disconnected, the only way for it to resucitate is to remove the battery and place it back in again. Phone or accessory? Any Thoughts? Thanx!
Finally I got it to work. I had to fully charge my battery as I had noticed that when i was trying before the computer was trying to charge the battery. Once I had fully charged the battery and then attatched it to the computer put it into file transfer mode it was really easy. Anyway I hope you have managed to solve your problem.
I have a different problem. For Sony PC Companion / PC Suite phone must be in "Phone Mode", although mine is in File Transfer Mode and has stopped offering me the choice when I connect. The phone displays stranges codes like F4:6734 and now, since a few restarts, the only thing it does is play an intro (if I press F4:6733 which is in the place of "OK" - when I play it is F4:4590 to stop the intro from playing). No menu works. Recently I could at least call numbers, but now I only have the F4:6734 message with the F4:6733 option...

Much the same problem, media manager wants the phone in file transfer mode, (not phone mode) when i do this it starts to connect to the phone and then media manager crashes (window closes). in my case the phone recovers after the usb lead is removed. i have reloaded the media mgr software twice, once from the disc and once from the website. any ideas?
I have excatly the same problem I think when I connect the phone to the media manager and put in file transfermode (as instructed) the phone is not recognised by the computer as it says no phone is connected and the screen goes compleatly blank. All I can do is disconnect the battery and reconncet to restart the phone. However when I have the PC suite programme on and the phone is in Phone mode it works perfectly well. I only bought the phone yesterday!
blank screen when plug in computer and now is not turning on
