I had the same problem and I found that if I tightened the thermocouple line on the back of the smoker control knob it would work properly. You can see the thermocouple line brass nut thru the slotted opening just above the double doors and below the control knobs. Mine was only finger tight and as soon as I tightened the thermocouple line nut, everything worked normal. Good Luck
Tightening the thermocouple fixed mine as well. Works like a charm now.
Fixed mine as well
How did you get to the thermocouple? I can see it underneath, but can't reach it.
How do you reach it to tighten it.

SOURCE: I just purchase this grill and was testing all
Yes, it is a Brinkman's problem. But, Home Depot will generally exchange it for a new one.
But, first, check the gas line running to the smoker burner. Does it appear to crimped or bent in any way? If this is the case, it won't allow gas to the burner. This may have occurred during shipping or it's a manufacturer's defect.
Also, try pushing in on the burner control knob when you manually try to light the burner. Since it's a low output burner for smoking, it may operate differently than the other main grill burners.
Hope this heads you in the right direction in resolving your burner problem.

Brinkmann is an inferior product in my experience. Buy a new grill from someone else.
SOURCE: Grill wont stay lit
These new tanks have a safety device installed in them . If you open the valve quickly or tip the jug the damn thang won't work. Take the tank loose, open all the grill valves and close all valves. Reconnect the tank and SLOWLY open the valve a hair. Light the burners. No need to open the valve all the way. if you do the dumb safety will plug the jug.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have the same problem and did the recommended take the regular off and put it back on trick and nothing. The Burners are fine, they do not seem to have this problem. It is just the smoker that is the issue. It worked fine for about 4 smokings and then nothing, Could it be something in the knob assembly?
I have had the EXACT same problem. Got one good use out of my smoker now I can NOT get it to stay lit. It will light when I press the buton down for 30 sec but after I release it, the smoker burner just fizzles out. Thoughts?
just bought one and have same problem! Home depot replaced it and STILL the same problem! almost 500 bux for this grill/smoker! ******!
This has been a three day search for a 15 minute fix. Tightening the thermocouple nut behind the knob fixed it, but do yourself a favor, take off the shelves, and then the front panel. This gives easy access to the control and at the same time inspect the tubes for any spiders that have set up camp. Back to smking!
