this should work for all 5500 hp printers i hope this helps you out richard from chicago i just noticed you have the wrong cartage you need hp 57 color that will make all the difference :-) HP Officejet 5500 series All-in-One model Black cartridge Color cartridge HP Officejet 5505 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5508 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5515 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5510, HP Officejet 5510xi, HP Officejet 5510v HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5600 series Replacing the print cartridges

  1. Turn on the HP Officejet, and lift open the print-carriage access door. The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door c00034766.jpg
  2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot. Figure 2: Removing the print cartridge c00034767.jpg NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
  3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles. Figure 3: Removing the plastic tape c00034768.jpg
  4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place. CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle. Figure 4: Inserting the print cartridge c00034769.jpg
  5. Close the print-carriage access door.
Aligning the print cartridges The HP Officejet will prompt you to align the print cartridges every time you install a new print cartridge to assure high-quality output.
  1. When the message displays, press OK . The HP Officejet will print an alignment page.
  2. Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
  3. Press OK . The HP Officejet will align the print cartridges and display Alignment Complete .

SOURCE: HP PHOTOSMART C4280 PRINTER WONT READ INK CARTRIDGE.

The cartridge is not seated properly and/or the contacts are dirty. Use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently clean both the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge socket. Allow several minutes to dry and then try again.

SOURCE: Use HP 363 cartridges instead of 177 for my Photosmart C7183

Phone HP.  After about a month hanging on, on their premium rate number, you'll finally be put through to someone who doesn't understand the problem.  Then, after your beard has grown another inch or two, if you're lucky, you'll actually get someone who understands the problem.  Some birthday's later, you'll be connected to a technician who can talk you through a simple number of keystrokes to re-configure the printer.
Reckon this cost me 30 UK pounds - seriously -  I had to call five times  but eventually it was done.

How to reset expired hp 02 cartridge

I'm not sure what you mean by "reset" and whether you are speaking of ink jet or laser cartridges. From my experience all HP laser cartridges have a small chip (with a little circuitry) that counts down your pages and when it decides your cartridge is out of toner you cannot "reset" that chip, you can only replace it, so like when you refill the cartridge. Some of the HP laser printers let you override these toner level chips (my HP 1518ni does) but in many laser printers you are stuck when the chip counts down to '0' pages. Some printers will run if you remove the chip from the cartridge but from my experience most will not.
Ink jet cartridges are somewhat similar but I gave up on ink jet printers several years ago. I know for some brands (Epson?) you can buy a small tool that somehow resets the cartridge chip (so if you refill cartridges yourself); possibly there is something similar for HP ink jet cartridges.

I have 3 different HP printers that show a reddish tint on all three. One is a Deskjet D4260, one is a Photosmart 6510, and another is a Photosmart C5180. When I look at the pictures with any photo...

Hi David,

There is no way HP will know what kind of cartridge you are using, Whether OEM or Geniune.

It is the printer which identifies if the cartridges are Refilled or Geniune.

Your issue is related to print quality, Clean the golden( Electrical contacts ) on the cartridges usually fix the issue.

HP psc2175 remove and check cartridge

The ink cartridges are probably dried up inside.

I would try replacing them before tossing the printer.

Ink cartridge refills

hi,.
the thickness of the ink in the genuine hp cartridge is different from the refill ink. it will never match. so thats it. try with a genuine hp cartridge and  check whether the printer works fine. else it might be the problem with the printer.
