Recently got a used SpeedStream 5260 modem and it does not want to work. All the connections are correct but the modem just sits there with all 4 of its lights solid green and won't connect (sys, atm, dsl, enet) My windows XP brought up a repair tool to test out what the problem is and it wasn't able to figure it out. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thank you.
Speedstream 5260 modems don't have a built-in pppoe in it, so with your win xp OS you just have to make a broadband connection using the new connection wizard by either going to control panel > network connection > new connection wizard or in internet explorer, click on tools menu > internet options > connection tab > click on setup button. follow the wizard and type your username & password on your registered internet account. also make sure you delete your previous broadband connections (if you have set up one before) to avoid conflict with the new connection.
the set up is different if you are using lower versions of windows OS, (like win2000, ME, 98 SE/ FE or 95? ) or Mac 9 you may need to install a pppoe software such as Enternet 300, WinPoet, etc.
The dsl light in blinkin red and green why? What is the problem.
Olease any help
Might be possible that your computer is not responding with the modem == if the light are solid on the modem == checke this out ===>> click on start button ===>> now click on run type in the box cmd == you will get a balck screen = now type ping 192.168.1.1 and checked if the computer is giving replys ... if you get this then contact me back
hi,
This issue usally occurs when the router is able to save the data stored or in other words the Router id not able to AUTHENTICATE, but as you already got a new router and you have already done the fireware upgradation of the router. we can also upgrade the firmware of your speedstream modem.
plz do these following steps ,( plz disconect the router from the computer and modem completly while doing the steps )
The Efficient 5260 modems that can be upgraded are as follows:
Look on the label on the bottom of your modem. It should read:
SpeedStream 5260 Ethernet ADSL Modem
Part Number: 060-5660-00x (where x=any number)
Revision: any (all revisions seem to work)
If your part number reads anything else, your modem is most likely not upgradable.
For those curious, 5660 models 003 and earlier do NOT support G.Lite ADSL, only DMT. If you are buying a 5260 or 5660 model secondhand, and your DSL ISP uses G.Lite DSL, it would be a good idea to check with the person selling you the DSL modem.
UPDATE: As of 5660 Firmware v2.3.0(2) and later all 5660 including 5260/5660 hybrids support G.Lite ADSL. It pays to use the latest Firmware.
PLZ REPLY IF THIS HELPS, I WILL TRY TO FIND OUT THE RESOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE
REGARDS.
