SOURCE: selected boot device is not available

I had the same issue with my dell dimension 2400. The issue I was having resulted in the connection to the drive was loose. Try taking off the side of the case, find the drives in question and reseating the plugins. My pc was quite a bit older though and i don't know if this will be your solution, but its worth a shot. You can even try installing a different cable and swapping to another power supply plug.

SOURCE: Dell DimE310 wont reeboot

try this unplug your machine, take off the side cover, there is a jumper near the battery for the cmos,it has three pins, remove from pin 1&2
and place on 2&3,remove an return to the original position.
plug in and restart,at startup press F2,scroll to boot sequence and press enter, change order to (1)CD,(2) IDE hard drive(3) SATA hard drive, save and exit.

SOURCE: Working on a Dell 530 Desktop, installed a new WD

Go back into the Dell CMOS and try reseting all settings back to default. Restart and when it starts to boot, start tapping F12 to get to the boot menu. Try booting to the CD drive now.

SOURCE: inspiron 531 wont boot up.

If yo are sure that you have a working operating system on your hard disk , and this error started after you (probably) defaulted the Bios settings or something else did ....Than I think the lack of sata raid driver makes the reading of your hard disk impossible ..To fix this ..either try to reinstall the operation system and during it ..choose to add a 3rd party driver (look for raid driver on your motherboard cd ..or on the manufacturer's support site ) ..or ..just get into Bios again ..look for the HDD in the advanced options ..and select the hdd 0 ..and eliminate the achi feature ..and replace it with sata as ide ..or compatible ..and save settings with F10 and restart ..It will make the hdd visible ..and support installation if it has non ...or just boot up ..but will work as IDE and not raid ..

How do i fix it?

Your hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

I can not wipe out and restore my dell vostro 200 desktop

your computer might not be recognising the cd rom

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem
"you only need to do the following"
if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it

Computer is not configured to boot from your hard disk drive (SATA 0),
you need to go into the BIOS (set-up) menu and make that drive the fisrt boot device.

You can get a manual here:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/content.php?S_ID=450

Did you set the boot sequense in your bios ??

First your CD or DVD drive
Second you harddrive.

Harddrive must be in sata 0.
CD or DVD must be in sata 1.

Or look in the manual how the settings should be.

Good luck.

Computer doesn't boot 'no boot device available" it cant find the hardrive it says sata 0-none sata 1-none sata 3-none sata...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
