SOURCE: home theater system connections

Hi
I have the same tv but my dvd surround is a toshiba, that shouldn't matter though. When I watch a dvd I go to component 2 which is where I have my dvd connected on the input of the tv when I watch tv and want the surround on I go to component 1 which is the tv input then on my dvd player I go to auxillary and I can watch tv in surround. I don't know the LG home theatre system but you should be able to select your inputs like between dvd, tuner, aux. Flip between them and you should get sound. hope this helps.

If your TV is connected to a VBOX, i other words you have virgin box connected to it, thats the problem. If you try and set your vbox remote to control volume of your tv it will go, or u can start configuring and abandon, will also get rid of it

Just bought lg ht44s home cinema to go with my lg tv connected hdmi lead can get radio and dvd surrond sound but not through my tv

Try going into menu-sound and enabling external speakers. I am not sure if this option is available. How is tv connected to your surround sound receiver? If it is component cable, try plugging them into the back of your surround sound receiver where the tv input is labeled. Then turn on your receiver and select tv from the mode button.

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

You need to use a HDMI 1.4 Cable and it needs to be connected to to an HDMI socket with an ARC (audio return channel). Alternatively you can connect using an optical cable (TOSLINK).

How do i connect my headphones? when i use a red/white tulip - jack out cable and then connect the headphones jackplug there is no sound, using the 'variable sound out'. should i use an amplifier like a...

If your TV does not have headphone jack outlet, then there is not much you can do, the Audio line level out RED and WHTIE RCA jaks are not made to drive headphone directly, it does not have enough power to drive low impedance load such as headphone which has about 8~32 Ohms impedance, the line out RCA is made to drive high impedance load 20,000 Ohms and higher.
If you want to use headphone, what you can do is to get cheap powered PC speaker system that has headphone out jack, then just connect the powered PC speaker to the audio line out of the TV, but the TV must have an option on the audio setup to turn off the built-in speakers.

Yes, you can connect any home system into the TV by either using a scart or HDMI connector to produce the picture on the TV. The sound will still be present through the cinema system

If you have a later Philips home cinema model: HTS3100, 3300, 3500, 3154, 3357, 6510 & others, the sound from the TV will go through the existing scart connection.

Just select TV on the home cinema remote control.

For any other models, use a scart - twin phono lead (red & white), from the TV to one of the inputs into the home cinema.

Scarts 1 & 2 on the TV will have different results. Try both.
