Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--
ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?
TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---
LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

With the remote, press the Guide button. This should bring up the Guide Plus+ screen. Press the right arrow to move the cursor all the way to set up and it will ask, "What would you like to do?" Arrow down to "Review Options" and press OK.
The first question is, "Guide Plus+ System Auto Display? On / Off"
Arrow down to Off and press OK.
This problem is possibly a failure on you digital main pcb. Hoping its not hardware, best thing is to try to totally reset the guide plus. Go into the guide plus menu and find the setting to reset or restart setup. If this does not solve you issue, try hard booting the tv (unplug for 2 minutes) and try again. In quite a few cases, the manufacturer of the tv will have a software upgrade that may fix guide plus issues. Contact your manufacturer for that information
Hello, I have had my TV for 3-4 years and have dealt with this stupid guide popping up for the last 2 when I got curious to see if it was something I wanted to use. FINALLY I came across a solution - so far so good but tomorrow it could be back? I did not have the option field some suggested to use. So saw another suggestion for something else and so far so good. When going into the setup guide. Select the USA, place all 0's in the zip code area and NO for everything else.... no VCR no cable, etc.
Hope this helps..
I also was able to do this without the remote - IF you can get the menu to pop up you just have to use the numbers to select what you need. Found the remote and saw nothing different as far as menu options. Good luck.
Bring up TV Main Menu and select option 7 (TV Guide Plus Menu) Select option 1 (TV Guide Plus Setup) Find the MENU, GO BACK and Input button on your remote Press the MENU Button then immediately: Press the GO BACK button then immediately: Press the INPUT button.
Note: It is important to press the Menu, Go Back and Input buttons quickly (within a second of each other)
Question? Whenever I turn on the television, the GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes on. Answer: The GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.
Option A: Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu. Select Setup. Select Options. Select Off.
Option B: Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu. Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu. Select Off.
Option C: Press GUIDE on your remote control. Select the Menu bar. Press the right arrow button to select Setup. Choose Review Options. Select Off.
I know Option C worked for me!!
Given the many TV models, it's possible that accessing control of this feature in the Program Guide menu may differ on your TV. For specific instructions for your model, see your owner's manual.
