My xbox was fine, but one day it started to turn off. Then in order to be able to play i had to put it in different positions b/c if not it would turn off. Now it just doesn't turn on anymore. This is my second xbox with this problem. I've changed the cables and it still wont work. Please help me. Thanx.
Sincerly,

Several possible problems. Open up the xbox 6 screws underneath (4 beneath the pads and 2 under the stickers), See if the fans are still spinning, may be causing it to overheating. In some of the early xbox ms didn't properly solder the power supply connectors, if thats the case you can buy a new power supply for the xbox. Check out a website like xbox-scene.org lots of great information there. It sounds like the power connector to the power supply on the inside has a flaky connection.

U might just have a overheating prossesor.try cleaning the vents with an airosol spray and either adding a prossesor fan to the vent or setting the xbox infront of a large fan to help cool it .

Try your xbox in different position. sometimes it works that way. The laser might be getting weak as well. Try cleaning it, if still not working then you have to replace it.
If you haven't already, try running a dvd cleaner through it a couple times. Usually clears it up for me.
Good luck. Please let me know how you made out, thanks.
i dont really know why it is not playing because i got a x box 360 pro and i got assassin's creed 2 and it work just fine so go to game stop and ask them why its not working. :(
it means the one that wont read is scratched, dirty or defective, my advice is to clean it if its dirty, get a cd repair kit if its scratched or take it back if its defective.
The disc tray is messing up. The same thing is happening with my 360. Here are two different suggestions:
Put the disc in the 360, and then turn the console off. Turn it back on, and it might start playing the game for you. This has worked for me a few times.
Call Microsoft's Support line (I think it's 1-800-MY-XBOX in the US), and tell them about it. If your console is within warranty, they should repair it for you, free of charge.
this happens a lot. what happend is the red white and yellow wires that you put in the back of your tv. the red one is not in the right area or
there is a switch right were you plug in that cable with the red whit and yellow cables to your xbox that says hd or normal switch that to whatever your tv is
