Sony kdl-40s2000 I just purchased a sony kdl-40s2000. I have it connected to a Motorola DVR providied by Comcast. It is connected via a HDMI port. The problem is when I change channels on the cable box/DVR, the TV will go blank. It doesn't turn off, but there is no picture until I turn it off and turn it back on. This happens about 30% of the time. Any thoughts?

I have had an extremely similar problem with my Comcast Motorola DVR and Sony Bravia with HDMI connection. For months I would lose picture/keep sound when changing from a non-HD to an HD channel. The solution that I found is that there is a setting in the cable box setup that will likely fix your issue. Turn off your cable box leaving the TV on. Quickly press the Menu button on your remote to get into the Box setup. Make sure that 4:3 Override is set to "Off" instead of 480i. I believe this will solve your problem.

Probably need a software upgrade. Contact Sony for that information. This would be a common fix in most sistuations when using HDMI.

Your PS3 working doesn't mean a thing for the cable unless you are using that cable for your PS3. I would bet you have a bad HDMI. They are pretty sensitive to being bent. Try replacing that first. The other thing to check is to first make sure you have the proper input selected on the TV for where you have the HDMI plugged into on your TV.

No sound

Check the on screen sound set up to see if the sound for HDMI mode is set for analog output (using RCA Red and White audio output jacks) or through the HDMI port.

Hello, There is an update for your TV at Sony Support and I would strongly  recommend to call Sony Support to update your TV as firmware updating firmware is risky job for novice and TV firmware can be damaged and TV will shut down.

Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!
