What is fault 40 - Fisher and Paykel Aquasmart wl80t65c

This is error code 40.
40. (00101000) Basket Dis-engage Fault
While carrying out a basket check, the Motor Control Module has found that the basket is
not engaged even though the pressure sensor indicates that the basket is empty. The
Motor Control Module continues to check for 2 minutes, after which time it displays this
fault. The first two areas to check are the clutch and the pressure tube. If these two
appear correct, then the fault could be in the pressure sensor in the Motor Control Module.
Primary Source: Mechanical.
Action: 1) Check that there are no clothes or other foreign objects preventing
the clutch from re-engaging. Excessive suds can stop the basket
rotating.
2) If the machine is empty of water, carry out a clutch disassembly
procedure and check the spline drive.
3) Next check that the pressure tube has not come off and that it is
not kinked.

Reset unit by shutting the power off then turn it back on. On the furnace cover you will see a flash code .Correspond you code with the code chart and you will find your issue

OK I am guessing this is a modular drive. Fault 39 is an IGBT fault on phase U and 40 is an IGBT fault on phase V. Unless you are experienced it's best to have a qualified service tech do the repair. However here are my thoughts. The IGBT fault may be caused by a dirty air filter located in the side panel. It's some where around 10" x 12". If the electrical panel filter is dirty you don't get enough cooling. The IGBT's get hot and over temp. causing the above fault codes. Check the filter and replace if needed. Next in top of the electrical and drive compartment is a fan. Make sure it is operating properly. If the fan is not operating again you get no cooling air for the IGBT's. I have seen customers open the panel doors and put a large fan blowing on the drive to cool it. I don't recommend this due to the fact the air is unfiltered and can get dirt into the drive and cause damage!. However some customers have to run and take the chance. There are also other items that can cause these faults. But as I said before determining whats wrong can be very technical. Does the display show any other # after fault 39 or 40 like 39 - 3 or 40 - 2. If so this gives additional info on the fault and tests to perform like checking the ID board or interface board. Hi just read your posting.Now ERROR CODE 40 is called Bowl Dis-engage Fault.This means that the clutch has not re-engaged to start the machine on a spin cycle.There are 4 things to check on your machine to establish where the fault is located.The 1st is the clutch,the 2nd is the pressure switch tube,the 3rd is the control module and the last your machine has too many suds in the bowl.Would you like me to help you test all of these things in the list?Please reply on how you would like to proceed and I will help you as much as I can.Looking forward to your reply.

Alot of the times that is caused by a bad fuser. Change your fuser to a new one if the fuser still continues with the error 40 and the fuser is OK then go into Service Diagnostics, NVRAM Access and run the "Clear Tech. Rep. Fault". What happens is that if the errors comes up more then 3 times it gets stuck in the engine control board So then you have to erase the engine cotrol board to start fresh with no faults or errors. Fuser part # 115R00025

We are experiencing the same problem with our 40" Samsung LCD that was purchased in April 2008.We have already replaced the Sattelite DISH. It appears to be a short.
