PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!

The best I could find by scouring the internet was that it was a communication problem between the central control unit and the electronic control box. I was getting F1 codes that would stop the wash, then diagnostics showed F68 and F41 codes.
Sears wanted to charge $65 just to come out and diagnose it themselves, and these appliance sites wanted to charge their own fees to offer solutions. So I took a chance and ordered a new electronic control box ($146.00 + S&H) and installed it myself.
There are three long screws behind the control unit "hood", in the back-top of the washer, facing straight up and down. After unscrewing, I lifted up the hood up and forward, and there was a black box - the electronic control. First, you should check all the wires and make sure the connections are ok. If that still doesn't fix it, unplug all the wires, and take the electronic control out by unscrewing one 1/4" bolt. Put the new one in and re-wire everything (it shows what wires go where on the electronic control box - named by colors). No more error codes!

This washer is only a year and a half old as well, I guess it will pobably be my last Kenmore/Whirlp

SOURCE: Washer makes loud thumping after finished spin cycle

Remove washer cabinet (easy to remove)and check that "base pads" (there are 3 pads, located under the main tub)are not worn. In case they are worn (even one of them), you should replce them all. Good luck !!

SOURCE: Roper washing machine- unbalanced spin - rocking agitator

I usually stand in front of the washer and take the plams of my hands and forcefully provide a force with the heel of my hands on the side front corners and the lip comes up

Another option is to pull the washer out and remove 2 clips (usually requires quarter inch nut driver to allow the top to come up

This should allow you to get the top off to see if a spring has broken or slipped off

GOOD LUCK!

How to Level a Whirlpool Top Loading Washer.

If you are experiencing consistent off-balance load issues with your Whirlpool top loading washer, it may be caused by a simple problem of needing to reset the auto-level mechanism and making sure the front feet are properly level. This advice may save you a service call and restore an unbalanced washer to running condition.

The rear feet on Whirlpool manufactured top loaders have an auto-leveling mechanism that you can easily reset yourself. Just follow these steps:

1. With the wash tub empty, open the washer lid and grasp the rim of the tub opening (do not grab the tub).

2. Now place one of your feet at the base of the washer along the front of the washer to keep it from moving.

3. Now pull the washer towards you so the rear feet lift off the floor a couple of inches. You should hear a clicking sound as the rear feet auto-level.

4. Carefully set the washer back down (do not slam it) and the rear of the washer should now be level.

Using a level, check the washer front to back and side to side to make sure it is level in all directions.

If you need to adjust the washer washer front feet, carefully lift the front of the washer and turn the feet to either adjust them up or down. The slightest difference can cause excessive vibration on the final spin. Check by placing your hands at opposite corners on top of the washer (diagonally - one on the rear, one on the front) and try rocking the washer to see if it moves. If the washer wobbles, you need to readjust.

This advice is for all Whirlpool manufactured top loaders with a direct-drive system such as Kenmore, Estate, Kelvinator, Roper, and Frigidaire. If in doubt, please post your MODEL NUMBER when submitting questions, so that I can determine if your washer is configured with this feature.

This does NOT include the Oasis, Cabrio or Calypso models.

I hope everyone finds this information helpful.

My washer always gets unbalanced load with 7 minutes remaining.

This sounds like a problem with an unbalanced washer or unbalanced load. Your washer has four leveling rubber screws underneath. To keep it from rocking make sure all four points are touching the floor at all times. Washer machine being level is a great plus. Also it could be the amount of clothes put into the washer. The more clothes you put in the less chance of your load being uneven.

Ul is displayed what does this mean

UL Stand for unbalanced load
probably the balance rods washer has 4 of them and they work like shocks for the tub and if they go bad than they allow the drum to spin wildly.

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer model WTW5610XW0 type 588-02 spins then stops and clothes still come out wet.

The washer is unbalanced, make sure it is level and the clothes are distributed even, if this have been check. put the unit on cold water and see how fast it comes in. Safety programmed into the unit if it takes longer then 10 minutes to fill it will just drain. This is to keep the washer from flooding out. Check the water inlet where the hose screws on, it could be plugged up with grit

Whirlpool cabrio W10106480A keeps giving Unbalanced Load message and tub bumps the sides very hard and loudly

follow this step and fix it. God bless you

Washing machines are complex and have many functional components. It's always best to stop an unbalanced load, rearrange it, and re-start the washer.

Hotpoint top load unbalanced

Darla heavy objects such as towels and jeans not evenly distributed in the washer will cause this to occur, open lid let washer come to a stop and then reposition clothes

If it is unbalanced as in the whole machine rocks even when not running then the rear levelers are out of position, pull top of washer towards you tilting the whole machine, towards you, the rear levelers will self adjust unless jammed, you may need help tilting the unit

Wtw6600 washer has UL code and has trouble agitating and spinning.

The UL code means Unbalanced Load. Open the lid and move your clothes around so they are distributed evenly. Your spin cycle will then work normally.

What would cause an unbalanced load condition in a whrilpool washer model wtw6400swd . Unbalanced when empty and legs leval!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Although you say it's level I would recommend you try all of my method to make certain, please;-0)
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine, even when empty, has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly!

Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.

Good luck,

John C
