I have a MER6770AAC. The lower oven bake element is only partially working. All except for the last section that runs parallel to the back of the oven turns red. I assume that's not normal correct?? I replaced the element today and much to my dismay, it did the same thing. I called the store where I bought the element and he suggested that it's a power problem. I checked across both leads and had 240. I also checked across the ground to each lead and had 120. Seems fine there.
Any suggestions??? Thanksgiving is a week away and I don't want the turkey cooking unevenly. Thanks for all your help!!

I haven't checked anything but the heating element. The fault codes read F0-0, which means no fault but..... ?

Sounds like you have it figured, need to spend some moola..........
You can ohm out the sensor to the oven should be about 1100 ohms at room temperature.((the sensor is the little rod with two wires attached to it sticking in the oven, as temps change resistance changes which is read by the board) The upper and lower oven sensors are probably the same,you could just swap them to test, but probably not necessary,might also be confusing if you do not do a lot of testing on a regular basis. Remember to unplug unit for safety.
The bake element if it was not bad should be about 20 ohms, bad would read open........

So no one has any input/suggestions? Can someone with the same range turn the bottom element on and confirm the entire element turns red? I confirmed that I have 240v at the leads where they hook up to the element. Broil element in the lower oven works fine too.

I have the same problem. Repair man said the clock assembly is bad. They cost $250-$300. I havn't yet replaced mine to see if it fixes it or not
I have observed the same thing but I am not yet convinced that it is a problem. The oven has no problem achieving and maintaining a proper temp. I do not know a lot about electricity and ovens but I do know a bit about the concept of electrical resiatance--which is how an electric oven element works. It seems like kind of an "all or nothing" proposition for a bake element to work or not work. Have you been told by an authoritative source that the element does not work that way by design?
I have the exact opposite problem, as the front part of the element gets red but the back part doesn't. I used an oven thermometer, and I have a very interesting but not useful scale, where it thinks it has reached 325 but has just reached 200, and continues to maintain approximately 125 degrees of difference. I don't like the popping noise, so I'm going to try to get a new element.
