NOT a good sign - if the screen has gone ALL white then the White LED that send light into the screen is shining through the Liquid Crystals which usually means a layer is broken.
The LCD screen has 3 layers of crystal that are voltage sensitive and shine blue,green, yellow etc.
White light usually means a layer has broken. -- Sorry , hope it's under warrantee.
As a rule of thumb , the cost of replacing the LCD is the same as the Phones 2nd hand value on Ebay -- Ray
when it comes to white screen, could be one of 2 problems. either the lcd unit has gone faulty, or, there are 2 diodes that drive the screen, have gone faulty. for your sake, i hope it is the lcd, and you can buy one off ebay for cheap, and do it yourself
Try to turn it off, remove the battery and sim card. then after a minute or 2 reinsert simcard and battery. If same thing happens, call your manufacturer or service provider to check warranty status of your phone... for replacement
If formatting your phone doesnt help there are three possible problems in order of priority (1) your screen is gone and needs replaced (2) your ribbon cable is gone and needs replaced (3) phone needs flashed, I have repaired the first two above on many samsungs with this fault! Not an easy job! Hope this helps.
