My Behringer C-1U Microphone is not working on any of my computers. When I insert the USB cable into the computer the green light briefly (1-2 seconds) turns on and then turns off. The message on the computer reads: 'USB Device Not Recognized: One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.'. Int the 'Device Status' box it reads: 'No drivers are installed for this device.' I have tried installing the driver from the CD, the driver from the Behringer site and various drivers from external sources, but none have worked. I have been through the Windows troubleshooter too. I visited the shop where I purchased the mic and it was working completely fine on the Mac and PC that was there. There is no problem with the mic itself. I have tried countless tutorials with no results. The computer I would like to use it on is a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop if that helps at all. Would be greatly appreciated if I could solve the problem and start using the mic ASAP.
I'm having the same problem, however I can say that Phantom Power is out of the question. the c-1u is a variation of the c-1. The difference is that the u doesnt require phantom power
I found this video on youtube just follow the instructions and at some point it will work.

Hi Brennan Smith, can you tell us how did you fix your mic?
i'm with the same issue!

The microphone needs a phantom power supply to work. In your case you need a 48volt phantom power supply. Some mixers have this feature built in.The Micropower PS400 by Behringer would probably be a good choice.

Some of the Podcast mics are condenser mics and MUST be used with a preamp or DEVICE that supplies PHANTOM power to the mic.
You computer DOESN"T supply Phantom power.
Read up on Phantom power in Google to understand it.

Check the input and output settings. Look in the preferences or settings menu for "i/o settings" or "i/o setup." You're going to set it from the default internal mic input to this one. It sounds like it may be that simple.

Double-check on the side of the microphone to make sure you didn't inadvertently activate the 10db pad. If so, switch it back to the center position.
Also, on the US-122, make sure that the input is set to "mic" and that you have switched the Phantom Power to the "On" position.

How to Operate a Behringer C-1U
The Behringer C-1U is a USB condenser mic for recording individual instruments. A condenser microphone is a mic that uses vibrations produced by sound to change the distance of internal plates that produce signal. Condenser mics typically require an extra change, known as phantom power, to operate. Since the C-1U is USB powered, phantom power is not needed. The Behringer C-1U has a frequency response that favors sounds around the 10KHz range. This heightens the clarity of recorded signals due to the microphone's treble boost.
Things You'll Need:
* Computer with USB 2.0 port
* USB cable
* Recording software
Instructions
Turn on the computer. When the operating system loads, connect the microphone.
Install any necessary drivers for the C-1U. This will happen automatically when the device is connected.
Select the Behringer C-1U as an input source in any desired audio software. In Windows, click the "Volume" icon in the task bar to open the mixer. Select the C-1U as the primary input. On Macs, use the "Audio/MIDI Setup" in the "System Preferences" menu to select the C-1U as the primary input
Note: make sure you activate the phantom power on the mic. That's the only way to power up the microphone.
Have a nice day.
