Siemens 200amp Load Centre will not reset and no power to box after a short in the bathroom?

Wrong fuse was turned off when changing light switch covers...screwdriver touched something then sparked then all power shut off....genious. Anyways the main breaker was off obviously but will not reset....and I had a family electrican take a look and he said there's no power to the centre at all. He can't figure out why. There are no other panels or boxes within the unit. This is a condo unit so I asked the caretaker if there was a metere room. He said there was a gas meter room....would there be an alternate power source for the load centre that has been tripped as a fail safe perhaps??

It sounds like the breaker at the metering base is tripped. You will need to locate the meter base outside to find the breaker. You can also call your local utility company service provider and report a power outage. they typically will come out free of charge to verify power.

SOURCE: I am installing a Siemens 30 Space, 30, Circuit, 100 Amp, Main Breaker, Indoor Load Center, Copper Bus Bars and want to know what gauge of wire I should run from the meter to the 100 amp breaker

I don't mean to be flip, but if you have to ask, you really shouldn't be doing this yourself. You might need to look this up in the "code", but if you don't already know where to look it up, then you are crossing a big DIY danger line here. Good luck and be safe!

Check amp draw, make sure service calculation was completed correctly, check line side and load side connection of main breaker

Can anybody tell me for sure where the dome light relay is located in my 2005 blazer zr2

There's not likely a relay involved in a dome light circuit. Did this problem start after you changed the headlight switch? I would be looking for a wrong, shorted or swapped connection on the headlight switch (assuming that's where the dome light is turned on from).

I have just changed a two gang switch that controls the bathroom and landing light but now the lights in the bathroom and landing wont work all the other lights work and no fuse has tripped

That could be the culprit - right there.

You see, the new dimmers work electronically. There are no moving parts really. Voltages are changed in some very high tech ways thru transistors and triacs. These are comparatively "delicate" devices to the old snap switch and rotary dimmers that had large moving pieces that could handle a large load (like your short via the screw driver) for a short time. Not so with a transistor or triac however. There are so small, they have no way to dissipate heat like the other switches and *instantly* fail. The amount of current in amps needed to blow the transistor or triac is much lower than that needed to blow a fuse or circuit breaker - so that's why it never opened. That is why the instructions often call for removing power at the panel before installing.

So, unless it is a simple wiring error, my money is on a blown dimmer switch. Double check you work and try again with the power OFF.

Good luck!

ONLY one of my circuits (out of 25) is

First off do you have anything plugged in to any of the outlets that are on that breaker? If so unplug and try resetting the breaker again. If not you may have a faulty plug. Go to lowes or a good hardware store and buy you a circuit tester for plugs they make them that plug in and have lights that will light up and give the error or what is wrong with that plug. It sounds like your overloading the breaker.

Siemens breaker just for overhead lights in bathroom and hallway Why does it buzz for a second then TRIP off?

You say the breaker supplies power to just one or two lights? And no outlets, fans, attic circuit? Map out all affected electrical boxes.
Move wire from suspect breaker to another same-size breaker and see what happens.
Move wire from the other breaker a to newly installed breaker, to check if breaker is main suspect.

Open each switch and outlet box affected by suspect breaker.
Disconnect power at light switch, and see if breaker still has problem.
Unplug all things from outlets on circuit.
One by one, check each electrical box for burned wires and loose wires.
Use nose to smell for burned condition.

Bathroom switch controls light & fan. Trying to change out switch into a gfi switch/receptile. Box contains 2 wires ( total 2 white and 2 black, plus ground). what do i do

First you have to identify cables.
You have 2 cables that enter box. Each cable has black and white wires.
One cable probably comes from breaker box, and one cable probably goes to Load (which means your fan-light)

Separate wires for testing. Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire. Tester lights up on Hot wire. This wire will connect to brass 'Line' screw on back of new GFCI device.
Hot is identified. Test Hot to all other wires except bare ground. Tester lights up on Neutral wire. Neutral connects to silver screw that sits across from Line screw on new GFCI device.
Other two wires inside box go to Load.
These wires connect to the two wires that stick out on back of new GFCI device.

Ground wires are connected together and connect to green screw on new device.

How do I wire a leviton 7299 combo switch. I have power to the box from standard 3 wire cable blk and wht with a grn ground. I then have another cable again blk/wht with a grn ground going to a set of...

Ok this is a GFCI switch receptacle combo. You will connect the incoming cable to the incoming terminals on the Recptacle. White goes to Line (silver) terminal Blk goes to Line (brass) terminal. For the light connect the white to the load terminal (silver) Then take a short black wire and connect from the Load (brass) terminal to one of the switch therminals. Connect the remaining outgoing black wire to the other switch terminal (at bottom of switch) connect both green wires to green ground screw. (best to "pigtail" ground wires so only one wire on terminal. This will give lights GFCI protection also good for hanging lights in a bathroom.
