My Onkyo HT-R530 is in amp protection mode. Onkyo does not have an authorized service dealer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and suggested I ship it to their regional service center in Michigan. Before I do that, I would like to know if this is just a fuse that I could repair myself.
Thanks,
Blake

You cannot plug in a turn table to this receiver because it does not have a pre-built pre-amp. So unless your turn table comes with a pre-built pre-amp you cannot use it with this receiver.
Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. . Double check all connections. Good luck.
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. Worth fixing.
Protection mode is engaged when a problem is detected internally. Unless you have crossed the speaker wires, the problem is likely to be a defective component or two inside the amp. This is a relatively common fault for all amplifers at one time or another. The typical cause is shorted output transistors. These parts cost anywhere from $5-$15 each and are replaced in pairs. The best thing to do here is to get a detailed repair estimate from a local repair shop ($50 or so) and report the results here. We should be able to walk you through the actual repair with that info in hand.

Hey there..Sorry.When the amps are over powered they blow the main circuit and short causing the amp to turn on the right back off to protect mode. That you will have to send in to get fix..Look behind the amp and see if theres any wires touching or grounding out.My favorite amps are from onkyo and believe me i've done this a few times to 5 aps I've had.So I up graded to the tx sr 906 It rocks and will blow every speaker I have before the amp will go..Hope this helps you and good luck..Have a great day...
Make shure your speaker wiring is solid hookup to amp and spekers (NO CROSSED WIRING). Also make shure speakers are not wired in parallel or the speaker impeadance will be to low and amp will kick out.Turn speakers off then hook up headphones and crank up volume then see if amp kicks out.If it does you have an internal overload and needs serviced. If it playes ok then you must have speaker problems or wiring.
GOOD LUCK

from LANCE P: I fixed it. Be sure that all your speaker connections are perfect. No element frays that can arc, no +/- problems, no single barely connected wire. My problem was volume sensitve and I evidently had one + wire that was loose in the back. I corrected it and ran it all day with surround and good volume with no problems. So diligently check ALL YOUR SPEAKER CONNECTIONS, both in the back of the unit and at your speakers
yes, pls.stop plugging the system, you may harm your system if you do so,the system has it's own system analysis mode, and if there's something wrong in the circuitry,it will activate, you need the authorize service center my friend,it's a technical problem.
it turns on for about 3 seconds and turns back off
