I just bought them an hour ago and there is a lot of distortion or feedback when a song gets loud or hits a powerful note. Is this just how the speaker works or is it defective??
I'm using a Mac desktop.
I've plugged everything correctly.
Not sure if it's the 2.1 version, it just says Logitech ls21 on the box

Most of the time amplifier hum is caused by the outlet that it's plugged into, maybe no ground or there's other appliances on the same circuit causing interference? And sometimes it's as simple as a little internal feedback, certain C notes on the Guitar cause distortion with tube amps, the best fix is a $100 power conditioner like made by Monster cables or others.... hope this helps?
to get this device to charge it is more complex than just plugging it in. when i first bought mine it wouldnt charge at all, the way i found to get it to charge while plugged into a usb powered device is to have it switched on, press the M key until it starts playing then hold the play/pause button until you only see the charge bar. then your mp3 player will charge correctly. if only the manual was even slightly relevant to the product...
Well it sounds like you need a mono block amplifier for the subwoofers. Subwoofers are ment for low frequency. If you try to run regular audio through the subwoofer the sound will become distorted at a high volume. If you have a crossover on the amplifier try putting it on LP. Also do not exceed the RMX rateing on the subwoofer because if you do they will also distort. If you try adding the mono block on to it and it is still doing it you may also be running to much power to the subwoofers.
Distortion using which source(s)? Keep in mind a turntable is basically a microphone for room-born vibrations and loud sounds so it may create feedback. And a TT without an onboard Phono preamp will require connect to one in your electronics. It will be labeled explicitly "PHONO" and only a TT should use it.
Fill in all the make and model details and how you have it connected.
check in your manual and follow instructions on updating the software. you download the file to computer then move it to a memory stick (USB), then simply insert it into the tv
Distorted sound on a MP3 player is usually caused by one of the following:
- Volume is set on to high
- Battery is going flat or does not hold enough chargeL: test by playing song while connected to an external PC power source/USB charger.
- Your Earphones/Headset has been damaged due to abuse (player songs too loud in general for an extended period) or too loud from another/PC source) - To test, try it on another music player or PC.
- Your unit is really faulty or you have a bad plug connection: to test, try jiggling the plug while listening to a song.

Two
things can cause static.
First,
If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing
distortion and static. Best to use headphones when recording.
Second
reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone
between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not
knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the
problem.
So
hope this is of some help. Bud
