Picture has green image
I had the exact same problem on my samsung 65" hdtv slp rear projection tv. i called a couple of places to get a quote and they all told me one of the lights burnt out. i got frustrated and left it on for 5 days and now the green colour is gone and its perfect again.
i think it was either very cold or i had let moisture get in to the circuit boards.
i hope this also works for you.

Found that the thermistor/temp measuring device is suspect, no resistance across legs. There is a label there that says F701 see service manual

I went here for a tech manual for the Panasonic tv.
http://www.ManualsParadise.com
then ordered
Manufacturer: Panasonic
Part Description: FUSE
Part Number: LSJA0411-1
from PartStore.com
it was mounted to the case that holds the lamp. had to remove the back panel, etc. Also think I had to splice in the fuse or something. was a while ago.
i purchased a NTE8115 from my electronics supplier, closest I could find. Radio shack also has them.
remove the back cover and measure for continuity across the thermal fuse
above the lamp housing.
if open jump it wth a 5 amp fuse, be sure to close the safety switch with
the small blue lever then try to power on.
If comes on ok you will need to replace the entire ballast assembly to get
that fuse.
Panasonic does not have a part number for just the fuse on the PT40LC
series.
It is possible to cut off the fuse and replace with another but dont solder

I had the same problem. Panasonic sent somebody out to fix it...
SOURCE: I have a Panasonic PT-56Wx51E that started showing
This is really a very simple thing to diagnose---go into the customer menu and select convergence--if red or blue is skewed there and will not adjust in some direction--you have a convergence circuit problem.
These sets use two convergence IC chips--if convergence will not adjust you need to replace both chips along with any of the resistors around them that protect the set and are bad.
Parts are cheap for this ----less than 30 dollars for everything you will need.
Based on the Pt56wx51e model number this set uses two of the STK-392-110 chips--they are black and side by side on metal heat sinks with fins and will have the full STK number printed on them in white letters.
Most shops get 300 or more for this kind of repair. If you or someone you know can do it you can save a lot of money.
The repair really only involves two things: getting at the chips and parts and being able to unsolder and replace them.
I HAVE START TO FINISH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR ON THIS MODEL. They will tell you everything you need to do the repair and how to do it--I have fixed hundreds of these sets with convergence problems.
If you think you can do it let me know and I will post the full instructions here for you.
Once the problem is fixed the set will not have the same trouble for 5-8 years--lifespan of the parts.
If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

The image on the tv is visible but where the color is supposed to be black, they appear green, it's worse on the HD channels but the sound is fine and you can still watch some programs but there is a lot of green pixelation coming through. Lamp is new, and the Places I called that we're willing to help over the phone were saying it could be a possible light engine, the convergents or the LCD driver which was replaced about a year ago or digital board all of which are too pricey to get a technician to repair...if it is the convergents can I replace them myself? I am about to throw this beast out the window!!!! Thanks for your help.
Left it on a few days, still crappy...
