I have a yard machines lawn tractor. The mower starts, the blades engage. But the tractor will not move forward or in reverse. My father said some tractors come with a transmission disengage switch for transporting.. Does such a switch exist? And if so where is it?

A lot of tractors have disengage levers. Round the back wheels. A lever or rod.

SOURCE: I have a craftsman lawn

If you haven't done so check drive belt to make sure it is fully engaging when you put it in gear. You can also check to make sure that your break is fully releasing.Grasp pedal with your hand and pull it back to make sure it is returning. Thank you.

SOURCE: craftsman lawn tractor automatic transmission

Just like motor vehicles when transmission gets stuck on a particular place without moving forward or backward it is a sign of a jam in one of the transmission levers. This is usually caused by lack of transmission fluid in the gears. When the fluid or grease depending on what your unit uses gets low the levers begin to grind against one another and therefore bring about such problems as you are facing. Although there is an off chance that the problem could also be from the automatic selector in this case the damage might not be so much probably an electrical fault.
First get an expert to check the auto selector if it is in good shape. If it is then i am afraid the problem is from the transmission levers.
Hope this insight has been helpful?

When backing up the mower blades shut down and won't come back on when I try to go forward again.

on most riding lawn tractors you most first disengage the blades before going into reverse moving the tractor stop, put the tractor in a forward gear then re-engage the blades. if this dose not help please contact me. Thank you

My riding lawnmower by Yard Machine, Starts, Blade Engages, however will neither move forward nor at rear

Hi there. It sounds to me like you have a worn drive belt. Go to http://www.mtdproducts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OwnersCenterView?storeId=10500&catalogId=20500&langId=-1 enter your model numbers in the center field and download your manual. It will show how to remove and re-fit a new belt. Take the old belt with you when purchasing the new one. Hope this helps

Runs but when u engadge the blades it dies

I would try bypassing the safety switch on the mower at the bottom of the blade control stick. It's meant to prevent starting the motor with the blades engaged but it or another safety switch can be bad. You may have one for reverse, the seat and brake.

Cub cadet starts but won't move forward or reverse ? what should i try to do?

What model? I have a 1554, that I just took to the dealer, for repairs, for the same thing. The motor starts, the blades engage and cut, it just stopped moving forward, or reverse. If I remember, I'll get back on here and let you know, unless you already know?
