Yamaha receiver shuts off

Receiver runs well for a time and then shuts off automatically. The first 'stay on' interval is the longest and then the receiver turns off in shorter and shorter intervals of time.

My Yamaha rxz1000 will turn off byitself

  • Jeff Dec 23, 2014

My Yamaha RX A-710 powered up initially, then it cut itself off. I immediately attempted to power it up again and cut right back off. It will no longer cut on. The Red Power Up button is very dim, what can I do?

Had same problem. Display would read, "Check Speaker Wires". Rear speakers were shorted by a carpet nail. Works fine now.

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

Won't stay on

You're best bet would be to buy compressed air and blow out all dust and dirt that has made its way inside the receiver. If dust is clogging the fans it will overhead and shut itself off.

Yamaha receiver r-v503 heats up

Receiver's get hot under normal conditions. If it's shutting down, that's another story!
If it's in a closed environment, ie. cabinet with doors... There's your problem. If it's shutting down, then you need to go a little further. First, disconnect all speaker wires from the unit, and power it up. If it stays cool, post a reply, we will troubleshoot further
If it shuts down, it needs serviced.

Recently purchased yamaha rx-v665 av receiver, was working fine, but for last 15 days while playing either movies on DVD or any audio, the AUDIO shuts off and the speaker display on the receivers front...

Check to make sure your wires aren't crossing on your speakers or if any of them are loose. Could easily be the cause for knocking out your speakers. That's the easy fix. Other than that it sounds like a computer issue. I'd take it back to where I got it from if it was me and it had only been two weeks.
I am kind of curious, though. Why aren't you using all seven channels? You really shouldn't leave channels open like that.
