2010 Macbook pro i5 15" Image seen only with flashlight.

My 2010 i5 1286 Macbook Pro is fully functional except for the screen images can only be seen with a flashlight. Apple Genius Bar's 16 point hardware test confirmation all green boxes checked, including the display, graphics and logic board. I manually switched between Integrated Only, Discrete Only and Dynamic Switching using gfxCardSatus. In About this Mac>Hardware>Display/Graphics the Intel HD Graphics and the Nvidia 330M report as Main Display: "Yes" as i switch back and fourth between graphics cards... But ONLY the external monitor lights up images when placed in "Discrete Only Mode" with the Nvidia graphics card... When switching to anything else in any combination even the Integrated Only Intel HD Graphics the laptop screen and the external monitor dont light up at all. BTW everything is set to Mirrored... SO, the question... Is it the laptop screen backlight like the Genius' thinks it is? aka, replace the whole display on this model or is it something else like that fuse/capacitor on the logic board preventing power to the graphics cards from switching back and fourth? I am just reluctant to get a whole new screen because of the Nvidia being stuck and the Intel HD card not bringing up any images on the external monitor because its not being told to do so. Thanks.

As always the Apple products are proprietary and DISPLAY post has issues. Disregard all the testing with other adapters and displays and replace the inverter first, it is the cheaper option.

You need to change the refresh rate, some monitors operate on 60 Hertz, and others on 70 or 72 Hertz, try changing the refresh next to the resolution choices.

MacBook Pro took a drop, boots up but nothing on the screen.

The screen, the cable that connects to the screen or something internal has taken a hit. You'll need to get it serviced to find out which. Sorry, but there's not much diagnosis we can do from a distance.

2010 13" Macbook pro will do is screen saying "Enter your system lock PIN code to unlock this Mac

The Mac is locked and has it say you need a code to open, so if you know the person who gift you the Mac ask for the code if no the only remedy is to re-load the system but you will need the the copy of the O.S.

MacBook Pro Want to stretch image 'full screen;' however, when I use stretch resolution, I can't see the top menu bar.

This is a fairly common problem when connecting the MacBook Pro to most Televisions.
Step 1.) Click on the Apple logo and select "System Preferences".

Step 2.) Click on the Display icon (it should be somewhere similar to the one pictured below).

Step 3.) You should get a screen that looks like this, make sure the box that says "overscan" is not checked. If it is checked, click on it to uncheck it. This should make the top menu bar visible, but it will not stretch the desktop image all the way to the sides. I hope this helps you out.

Twist the Macbook body while turning it on. If that make the image come back, you have a broken logic board. There are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open a Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.
