I have my computer and DVD player also connected to it. I may have drained the boards. We forget and leave the computer running all the time...Sometimes the DVD, TV and computer are all on at the same time. I believe the problem started long ago...for a year now, it would just turn off by itself then we would have to constantly turn it back on....Thought the neighbors had the same remote or something. Then I noticed it was very hot the other day the picture flickered for 2 days and eventually went to a black screen. Then when I tried to turn it back on I heard a pop. and smelled burnt rubber. What do I do now? It is no longer under warranty.
This is called the pop of death! If you call vizio they will ask you if you heard a pop, this is a common issue and unless your under warrenty your looking at 916$ to fix it. (assuming you have no sound! If you do its 430$ plus tax for parts and repair. You can buy a used one on ebay for that price!
I have the parts numbers if you want them!
Call vizio if you have had this system for under a yr the will fix it free!
As for me my 50 and 42 inch had this issue and well I am out of warrenty.. I hate vizio lol!

checkcthe manual to see if theere is nething mentioned about the remote having a seeting for audio w/o video
if u find it u may be able to check it

My P42 has same problem. Factory says it is the power supply to vidio.. They want me to pay someone to remove it. Then they want $162.00 to repair it (no new ones available). Looks like a 3 or 4 hundred dollar problem.
Gee maybe I'll run down to Costco and buy another Vizio, Right.

That problem is the Ysus board, Sometimes people will replace the Zboard at the same time. If you bought it at costco a couple of years ago you are in luck costco will refund your purchase price, costco has changed the return policy and newer tv's are not refunded, but something to look into

Your TV mainboard is damaged and need to be replaced, the price should be around $80-190 and you can do it yourself.

I have the same problem ... screen goes black and the Vizio light. I have checked every source for a replacement board: All TV Parts and Discount Merchants. No one has a board. The 3642-0412-0150(4A) (from what part houses are saying) those boards were a batch of left overs and sold in Vizio TV's to discount stores like Wal-Mart and Cosco. Vizio has no intention of providing service just talk - they will try to sell you a refurbished TV, with more junk boards.
I telephoned support and as I write I have been listing to songs for 1 hr 45 mins. Bad decisions and choices have finally come home to roost. Junk service and products. I will never purchase another Vizio product. One very dissatisfied former custome.
