Drivers are not needed. Just connect your PC to the modem with an ethernet cable. The modem should give the PC an IP address. Open a browser and in the address window type in 192.168.0.1 and you should see the setup screen for the modem.
yes u can!!
however ur going to need a cable called a CROSSOVER cable to connect the modem to the router. you can find this at any computer part supplier near u.
however u MUST connect the computers to the router with normal Straight through cables. plug in n enjoy!
I have just set up 4200 with dsl - you may find that you need to reset modem before you can configure. I was told that you need either a grey or yellow cable from your laptop to the modem. I use 10.0.0.138 to access modem. The 4200 I have was from a bigpond a/c - originally configured accordingly. Regards, Richard
Visit this link http://www.modemsupport.com.au/. On the left side under the heading Speedstream 4200 download and isntall both the drivers and firmware.
Once you've installed the firmware open iexplorer and goto http://192.168.254.254 . Type in an admin password and save settings. Type in your username and password ( provided by your isp ) press save again and then press connect. you should be in business.
put the modem in bridge mode and then connect a DSL/cable router to it...you'll have to configure the PPOE if its DSL...
Cable is a little easier because there usually is a MAC authientication not username and password...plug dsl/cable router into cable modem...turn both off for about aminute then turn modem on first then router...
Be careful most routers with wireless have it enable with no security by default...turn it off or set securty (wirelss that is)
