My maytag dryer is screaming at me!!

My maytag dryer sde4606ayw is making a loud screaming noise when drying. Sounds like metal on metal. It continues for a second after the drum has stopped turning and there is a faint burning smell inside the drum. I clean out the ducts and vents regularly. Could this be a fan motor or a drum guide?

It sounds like the bearings are going out or tensioner is loose allowing belt to slip probably the bearings

It could be the band slipping, depending on how handy you are, you can take out the back cover and check it out while it runs. I am assuming this is an electric dryer, so taking the back cover is not so difficult, just need to figure out what type of screws it has, find the corresponding tool and take it out (make sure power is unplugged while you do this) plug it back it and let it run, you can find where the noise is coming from. If you cannot figure it out, put everything back on and then it is best to call a technician.

2 things there first is noise the support rollers that old drum up and the pulley 4 the belt tightner needs replaced the dryng time as long as the dryer gitting hot is the vent going from dryer to outside pluged up

When i put clothers in my dryer it does not move and it make a sound when i push the start buttom

People, the first words the poster said were that the dryer was "brand new". All of your suggestions assume the dryer had extensive use. This sounds like a factory defect issue!!!! The dryer squeals extremely loud when drying. It sounds like metal scraping against metal.It appears the drum may be rubbing against something. I have lubricated all moving parts.

When the dryer runs even with nothing in it it , makes a thumping

check the inside of the drumm make sure none of the fins are loose,
but sounds more like the wheel rollers are bad, sometimes is loud when it starts then seems to go away a little after the dyer get hotter, is the heat that makes the metal bearings make less noise. u can replace the wheels,the belt an tensioner at the same time is cheaper to pruchase the kit an have it all done the first time! bad wheels put more stress on belt an eventually will break apart so just order the entire kit

My dryer is making loud screaching noises. Everytime I turn it on to dry clothes is makes very loud screaching noises.

Sounds like it needs what are called glides or felt. This is what keeps the metal drum from contacting the metal housing. If this is let go too long the drum can be ruined

Go to maytag.com and put in your model# and dowload your manuel. get some info on your type machine and the scamatics on it. I dont know the age but it sounds like its in the drum. may want to calll a technichian out to look at it. if I can help please let me know
