I have the same problem. Volume control will not adjust volume. It just spins around.

I have the same problem. I have also had a few other problems with my GX-70. The cd player has been repaired twice and is in need of repair again (I don't use it anymore). The sub woofer outlet is faulty and works intermittently. The repair person told me that here in Australia, there were many units with the same problems.

Aiwa AV-X200 Stereo Receiver volume knob: When using the remote, the knob isn't spinning correctly any longer (doesn't spin, or spins really slow). Take the unit apart? What should I look for?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Washing Machines category.

Check out the video. It may just need cleaning with switch cleaner and a couple of drop of sewing machine oil. The fact it does move is a good sign.

"Volume knob not working on my onkyo tx-ds656"
replace the volume knob but check the volume control IC first such as voltage and whether an analog signals come out by an oscilloscope.

and " lost remote " Check if the onkyo remote is working, by:
(1)point a mobile or a smart phone camera at an onkyo remote control.
(2)Don't take any photo.
(3)Now the remote picture is on the mobile or smart screen.
(4)Press any remote control key.
(5)White flashing light can be seen if remote is ok.
(6)If remote is fine, replace the remote senor on tx-ds656 with same part number.

I have a ge gtd 120 home theatre surround sound.for some reason, my volume is stuck on one level.. I haven't had a remote for it for a while, just used the knob to adjust the volume.someone plz help!

Unless the system has some kind of automatic volume control on it, that can only be adjusted by the remote. I think you might have a faulty volume/tone control circuit. These days many amps have a single IC that will control the volume. If that goes the volume can get stuck on one level. Since the control knob you are turning is simply sending a signal to that IC. So if the IC has died the signal is not being received.
If you want to repair it yourself just follow the wires back to the board from the volume control. You should see a large multi pin black box that if your lucky is marked on the board volume control.

05 MBZCLK320 The volume knob spins but no sound

if it's an aftermarket deck make sure the remote wires are hooked up correctly..some wiring harness' require you to hook up your headunits remote lead to the blue remote lead on the wiring harness...also if you have woofers attach all 3 of those remote leads together..

Volume control does not turn volume down. Lost remote control CD Receiver LT-1

I have opened the same unit up. The volume control knob moves a plastic paddle against a right & left micro switches. The paddle is connected to the knob by a very thin piece of plastic which breaks very easily. I tried to glue a different piece of plastic on , but it only worked for a little while. It was a pain to assemble & reassemble the unit. I do not recommend trying it. Just buy another remote (about $35.00)!

Volume control on unit

Kent, Unfortunately, it sounds as if the encoder is broken. The encoder is a digital input which takes the place of a traditional volume control, and is what holds the volume knob in place and spins. Since it works fine with the remote, that means everything else is ok, but you will have to replace, or have a tech replace, the encoder itself.

It has lost partially the mechanical connection between the volume control knob and the volume control pot.

The knob could be "stripped". A drop of a slightly resilient glue should do the trick. Do not use rigid adhesives, as this will prevent future service to this area of your receiver....accordianman
