Freezer runs constantly now that it has warmed up outside to 50 and above and freezer temp is +8. Freezer did the same last year during summer. Winter it cycled normally and inside temp was between -10 and +10. Now it is between +5 and + 15 and runs caonstantly, doesn't "cycle on and off" like it did before

Check and clean condenser. Check fans operational. If all else ok and working, short of gas.

SOURCE: Freezer runs constantly

not necessarily, is it maintaining temp? all food staying frozen? especially ice creams if stored in there. most newer freezers displace the heat generated while cooling the food through copper lines running through sides of unit, helps to cut down on air temp differences between the inside (0 degrees) and outside temp to prevent moisture and possible condensation causing premature rusting of unit

SOURCE: My deep freeze outside will not stay cold.

a freezer is just a heat pump . from inside the freezer to the garage . the first law of thermodynamics says heat travels from a hotter to a colder surface . it could just be the cold how much are we talking?

SOURCE: Upright freezer door inside developing ice

The door seal is at fault. Regardless of the small tear it is not sealing well.
Take a dollar bill and close it in the door. Then pull on the bill to feel resistance.
You will find it pulls easily in some place. That is where your air leak is that is causing the condensation.
Do this about every 6 inches all the way around the seal.

SOURCE: Freezer outside walls are very hot. Not maintaining temp

Hi, The walls are getting hot because that is where the condesor coils are. The condensor coils are where the heat is disperst that is trap as the coolant pumps through the evaporator coils inside. The fact that it is holding 0 degrees is a good sign. Is this freezer in a garage?
Check the door seals to make sure no heat is getting into the freezer other then when the door is opened.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

How can you keep a idylis chest freezer in garage during winter? temp below freezing

20 years ago guys used to put a 50 watt bulb down in the compressor area BUT the freezers today have been designed with the condenser in the freezer wall and don't retain any heat in the cold weather. Generally what you will experience is the temperature in the surrounding area drops to 10 degrees the freezer goes off and when the area begins to warm up the compressor tries to start with syrup for oil in its crankcase and cycles on its protector until it gets hot enough to warm the oil and allow it to run. Compressor life is shortened and the freezer temp is unstable. A self regulating crankcase heater could be purchased at a local supply house and wrapped around the compressor but I don't know if its ever been tried on a compressor that small or if you might overheat the compressor. ............Can you say garage heater? Its a matter of system design. All of the components for a commercial conversion are out there but a system that small is never considered. Sorry wish I could help more. Hope this helps and good luck.

Is the freezer being outside causing motor problems

Hello Donna F - Typically freezers are not recommended to be located outside because if the garage temperature is above 100 degrees, it will have difficulties performing optimally due to un-circulating air. Some manufacturers have garage kit design to help with this issue. It is design to solely be used during the winter to provide heat to the coils which trigger the compressor to come on. During the summer months, generally it is not needed.

I have a Frigidaire model GLFU206FWA upright freezer. The temperature control won't go above 10 degree F. This causes freezer burn on some foods after a period of time. Is there a way to regulate the...

Good day,
Manufacturers of freezers do not give the option of running the machine much above that temperature. Normal operating temperature for a freezer is about -2 to about 8 above F.
Otherwise people could accidentally set the temp too warm and cause a loss of food.
Some appliance parts houses carry universal thermostats that could possibly cover the temperature range your looking for, but 30 degrees is far to warm to preserve frozen food safely.

Kenmore chest freezer does not stay below 30 degrees compressor runs but I don't see a fan to cool the compressor

If your chest freezer is less than 50 years old, it does not have a fan. Cooling coils contact inner walls of freezer compartment, warm coils dissipate heat through outside walls of freezer. If compressor runs, temp is 30+ degrees, gasket is OK, lid not left open, then you have one of two contions: 1. Low capacity compressor 2. Refrigerant leak. Solution to either is to replace freezer. (My opinion: Don't get a Kenmore brand, which generally ties you into poor warranty and slow and poor service.) No matter what brand name is on the freezer, it is most likely manufactured by Electrolux (in St. Cloud, MN) or Haier (from China). Look at the model / serial number plate before purchase to see where it was manufactured. Yes, the USA manufactured ones are better. (and I'm not just saying that because the plant is less than 15 miles from where I am sitting right now)

What is the max. surrounding temperature for it operate efficiently

Most of these items are built to go as high as 95 degrees and somewhat function. I would not go above 80 degrees based on my 25 years of experience in working with commercial refrigeration. If it's a residential unit, I have a chest freezer in my garage for the last 8 years and not had any problems at all. I'm in the middle of Georgia and temps get pretty high in the summer.
Hope this helps.

Top mounted freezer on refrigerator not working

Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.

Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.

Freezer stops and start

ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck
