Try using acetone rather than water. Water can't dissolve the ink that may be clogging the nozzles,

Well, first off, are the alignment, and nozzle check sheets looking good? If not, then work on that. If so, then we have a problem. Try creating a test sheet in Word. Make red, yellow blue & black text and see if anything else prints wrong. Get back to me!

SOURCE: HP Business Inkjet 1000 error detecting new cartridge

Disconnect the communication cable (USB?).

Turn off the printer, wait one minute then turn it back on,

Then press the left button on the panel, the transparent one to the left of power button. It will print a status page. Check the dates and information under each color that is failing.

The ink cartridges MAY be outdated. Printing the test and information page without the computer connected fools the machine since it can't get your computer date.

If the cartridges are outdated, then change your computer year back to 2005 or so, reconnect the printer cable and send something to print, once the printer prints it out, reset your computer to today's year.

You will need to do this procedure whenever you turns off the printer. (Disconnect cable, change computer year, print, reset computer date).

Hope this works.

SOURCE: Black 3ek cartridge not printing

I had the same problem before with 3e black ink. It simply does not print too, so what I did if i get to print black and white i will set the characters into dark gray! it looks like draft printing but the things is it can be printed.. I tried to do every instructions available but to fail. I almost dump it till I decided to set it aside for a while. After a week I tried using it again, and it functions well. I guess the printer just want to say, "HEY BUDDY, GIVE ME A LITTLE BREAK!"

SOURCE: iP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Tried to print something today after not using printer for about 3 weeks. First go all colours were present but streaky. Did the nozzle alignment but on testing found that Magenta was completely missi

Hi Mandy
1) confirm there is ink in the magenta cartridge first - by removing it from printer and looking through the ink 'window'.
If you can't see the ink level, it's either empty or very close to it. If so, replace the cartridge.
2) If ink level looks ok, install it back in printer then set out a full page of magenta (or red) background or large graphic and print few pages on high print quality setting until the magenta starts to print. This works better than printhead cleaning/deep cleaning because it wastes less ink.
3) If it still doesn't print red after 2-3 pages, the printhead is blocked. Take it out and rinse under hot water tap. Keep washing it until only clean water is coming out. Shake any water off then DRY the electrical contacts really well. Don't install a wet printhead back in printer - or you may damage it. Run one or two deep cleans and print a nozzle check. With bit of luck all colours will work now...

good luck!

Before you take drastic measures, please do things that don't damage your printer. It could be there is just a drop of air in your printer system.
Remove the Magenta cartridge as told in the manual. Then put a drop of cleaning fluid in the little pipe you see in the bottom of the cartridge holder. then try to run a cleaning stage. If it won't run without a cartridge, it would be ok to put a empty one in. After some cleaning run's and a adjustment run, you than can place the new cartridge. Be sure you removed the sticky tape under the cartridge, and always before placing a new cartridge, when it is still in he plastic bag, shake the cartridge. Never shake without the cartridge in a bag!! because the ink will be overall in your place ant clothing.

I'm having a problem with the ink magenta on an IP4500 Canon Printer, it's not printing any magenta even with new cartridges and I've done all the maintenance checks!! Help!

there are small metal spring contacts between the cartridge holder and the cartridge itself, these send the signals to the print head via the cartridge holder. Over time, as a print cartridge moves from side to side during printing these flatten out and no longer come into contact with the cartridge. Find the contacts behind your magenta colour cartridge and re-tension the spring metal contacts so they once again contact the metal faces on the cartridge. They maybe hard to find as they will be in the place where the cartridge goes, use the flat copper faces on the cartridge to give you a clue as to the position of the contacts in the holder.

Says the cyan ink cartraige is empy but it is new, replaced it with another new one and still says its empty

remove all cartridges and close the lid. Wait for "ink cartridges missing..." error to appear then install all cartridges and close the lid. If the error persists, remove all cartridges then clean the cyan chip and corresponding contacts in the printer with damp cotton bud. Dry well (with dry c/bud) then fit cartridges back in. If still no good, contact HP.

hope this helps

I have replace the ink cartiges but the window is still showing empty cartriges and will not print

Good day.
Print cartridge contact points (the one with series of small golden dots) are very sensitive. Remove again the cartridges. Turn-off the printer. Get some cotton buds and an household alcohol. Wet the tips of the cotton buds and clean the contact points of the cartridges and the cartridge bays. Return the cartridges. Power on the printer and test.

Good luck.

Im using ciss for my epson cx3700 and the magenta wont print anymore

Make sure there is not an airlock in the magenta ink line. This is best achieved by fitting a syringe to the flow line and sucking through some ink. Also you may be able to use a syringe and needle to inject some in into the cartridge to prime it. You may need to run several cleaning cycles to get the ink through - I had a similar issue with and Epson R300 using CISS and carried out over 10 cleaning cycles to get the yellow ink to flow again. It may also be worth removing the cartridge and leaning the exit area with a cotton bud soaked in isopropyl alcohol as residue can build up in this area. If the problem persists you can fill the cartridge with cartridge cleaning fluid to flush it through and then empty it and reconnect the CISS ink supply. If you disconnect the CISS Supply a good tip is to use a bulldog clip to prevent the ink from siphoning out of the supply line while you are attending to the cartridge.

Ran out of black ink. replaced cartridge. now

If it ran dry before you replaced it then you need to do a deep clean of the head. This can be done under the maintenance tab of printer properties. If that doesn't get it working then physically remove the print head and clean it with a water moistened cotton bud (make sure you use a separate cotton bud for each ink nozzle). Running a cartridge completely dry can (and often does) damage the print head (overheats due to lack of cooling provided by the ink flow).

Color majenta not printing

Hi,

We've encountered several problems like this and we end-up replacing the printer head especially separate printer head technology from ink-cartridge(s). Cleaning well do in most cases and original ink cartridges is always better:) and cleaning of nozzle should be done three times only for it may consume whole ink cartridge half empty. For the ink-cartridge with printer head builted-in the problem with missing color most likely on the contacts between the cartridge and tray. Please wipe the contact points gently with dry cloth or cotton buds. Try to check if the contact points were not rotten or corroded with dried inks. Have a nice day.

"Banding" on Prints

Do a thorough manual cleaning of printerheads (where the cartridges sit). Many printers are notorious for clogged nozzles and the ink dries on he prinheads until it becomes a bandind issue or ladders appear, smudges too. Use a proper cleaning solution and cotton buds, until most colour is gone off cotton buds. Reinsert cartridges and try again.
