I have been having trouble with my KitchenAid Superba for few months. First, the water and ice maker stopped working, nothing dispensed. Later, after few days, it started to work by itself. It did this few times and suddenly it was not working properly. Two weeks ago the ice maker quit making ice but the water dispenser still working. We have trouble shoot few areas and have follow advises and ideas but nothing works. This is an expensive refrigerator that should not be giving problems withing the first two years of usage. Can you help? Thanks in advance
I have the same refrigerator and was having a very similar problem. My water would dispense just fine, but the ice maker suddenly began making partial cubes of ice, then quit making ice, than started again before finally stopping again. At first I thought it was because the fill tube coming from the back of the frig was frozen, but after clearing it the problem persisted. I traced the problem back to the valve at the back right corner of the frig. I disconnected the power inputs and water lines, then took the valve apart. On the side that feeds the ice maker there is a small washer inside of the valve with a very small hole that only allows a limited amount of water flow through it. A small pieced of rubber had broken loose from another section of the valve an was clogging this small hole. I cleaned the entire valve system and reassembled it. The ice maker is now back in action!!! The fill tube going into the tray had frozen because of the small trickle of water that was going into it was not sufficient to keep it from freezing. Make sure this is still clear before turning everything back on. I hope this helps several of you out there, as this seems to be a common problem.
Just like everyone here, our ice maker just stopped making ice. We solved the problem by unplugging the refrigerator for about 2 hours leaving the freezer door open.
It started making ice a few minutes after plugging it back in. Obviously the line that supplies the water had frozen and this allowed it to un-freeze.
We didn't remove any of the frozen items in the freezer, at the two hour mark, everything in the freezer was still mostly frozen.
Most of the early failures, if nothing gets added to the ice tray by curious kids, are going to be solved by switching off and using a hairdryer to thaw out the filler tube. Later ones can be solved by that and replacing a failed water-valve solenoid behind it, or the ice ejector motor or mechanism (which has to be unbolted a bit from the side before the 'lift and pull' thing will work.) Most things can be tested (given adequate training so that your safety oversight is always enough) by energizing them in isolation and listening for the expected response. If you don't toughen up to working near thawing tenderloin quickly enough, surely the people who talked you through the sale can offer encouragement and defense of the quality and ease of owning the product! (Aaaand Beckmar and Mar-Beck seem to have easy part selection and installation web fronts.)

We had a similar problem and they replaced the module. About a month later it stopped making ice and it was due to the waterline at the top of the freezer being frozen. Service man chipped out the ice then the water flowed into the trays. He stated that the line froze due to excessive humidity in the freezer (no real cause - we're a two person household and don't give it excessive use). Service guy suggested we place a box of baking soda in the freezer every 3 months. One other cause for excessive humidity is the possibility that the flap on the ice dispenser in the door does not close fully. I've noticed that when it does make ice, the ice tends to clump up in the container(in the door). Which leads me to believe that the flap is indeed not closing fully. Would not recommend this model or A&E service (warranty service co.). We purchased the 3 year warranty, but the problem seems chronic and indemic to this model.
The people posting on this site are a godsend. I was about to drop 654 on a new door when I came across this site. As everyone metions the door has a design defect and the wires controlling ice dispenser and water dispenser get severed. I ended up taking 18guage wire soldering it to both ends, shrink wrapping them and reconnecting. The ice/water dispenser work great. Unfortunately I have to repair the water supply tube that I melted when I shrink wrapped the solder joints. All the repair took was a few hours and a couple supplies, shrink wrap, heat gun, solder iron and solder.
Thanks for the hint on repairing.
Ice maker sounds like the motor module is bad, happens ALOT. The modules have been upgraded in 2006 for retrofitting so be sure to replace it with a 2006 model or in 2-3 years it will break again. http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.381007/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=5&ModelNum=KSCS25INSS
Hoe do you take the valve apart
Our ice maker stopped working all of the sudden also. After reading some of these responses, I got the ice plug out of the water fill tube that comes from the top of the freezer. Once unplugged, it resumed normal operation.
Make sure your fridge doesn't have a recall for evaporator as is the case on my fridge I also thought it was electronic and first tech thought it was a leak in reality the evaporator was clogging and causing freon to not keep fridge cold or freezer to work properly but kitchen aid won't let you know you will have to let a tech look that info up for you.
SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working
The ice maker has stopped working. The red led light blinks when the freezer door is opened. Any thoughts?
SOURCE: KitchenAid Superba ice maker not dispensing ice
this is not a solution, but an explanation- our repair man said that there is a line (tube) containing electric wires that passes from the frig to the door at the bottom of the door, near the hinge. for what ever reason, the line has broken, thus keeping the electric from getting to the motor that dispense ice and water- solution= $700 for a new door; we'll do without
SOURCE: ice maker will not dispense the ice
The auger motor and coupling in the rear may be frozen and won't turn.
Remove the ice bin.
Place a screwdriver or similar device in the forks of the auger and twist counterclockwise till it moves. The replace the ice bin and try again.
It will be difficult to move.
If that does not work. Turn off the fridge and use a hair dryer to hrat the auger gear and motor till it frees up.
Before going to buy any parts
directly.

The icemaker and the water dispenser aren't working.
The refrigerator leaks on the bottom. My husband replaced the filter in the back. The one that filters water. The refridgerator has no wheels to help move it. So, of course, the floor is now ruined. We thought after that the system would work. Well nothing works. We inherited the fridge with the house. It is about a 1993 Kenmore. We are at our wits end.
ice maker not working, water dispenser is, has done same in past but self corrected
WATER COMES THROUGH HOWEVER DOES NOT PRODUCE ICE CUBES, CAN THE LITTLE CHANNEL BE BLOCKED BY WATER THAT IS FROZEN? IF SO HOW DO I THAW IT OUT?
I have a kenmore refrigerator model #74259. The water dispenser works but the ice maker doesn't. I have water in the line up to where it enters the rear of the freezer. the fill tube is clear of ice. I filled the unit with water manually and it did not dispense ice.
I have a 2005 KitchenAid 25.4 cu.ft.side by side ( mod. no. KSRJ25CNSTOO) My ice maker worked for about 5 months. It could be my imagination and it may not have anything to do with my problem but it seemed that when harvesting ice it got a lot louder. As if the ice was hanging up and then releasing hard into the ice dispenser. That said this is what I discovered. I have a modular type ice maker. My ice maker does nothing . Using the service sheet provided by the manufacturer I tried to trouble shoot the problem. My emmiter and receiver light seems to be okay. The light stays on continuously which means the optics are good. Voltage to the reciever board is good but voltage from the receiver to the ice maker is only approximately 74vac. I know my ice maker motor is good because i ran power straight to it and it ran through its cycles fine. My heater ohm out good as well. So, is it my receiver or what ?
The ice maker in my KitchenAid Superba has stopped working. I think it is jammed with ice inside the mechanism.
Our refrigerator is about 4 years old and suddenly the icemaker stop working. We have no idea what could be wrong. Can anybody help
water still working but ice maker won't make ice
Have had the Superba for 3 years and the icemaker stopped working while water dispenser works. Identical to other buyer's complaint. If this is apparently a common problem, shouldn't the manufacturer be responsible for a free fix? A recall of a defective part, just like what occurs with an automobile. Make sense?
Water still working, ice maker not making ice.
Just stop making ice. no water to the tray. water dispenser is working and water flowing out of it fine. The black nipple that flows water to the trey is not frozen so I assume the line is not frozen. I heard it could be the water pump/valce or whatever enables delivery of water to the tray, but then read it could be module and motor assembly? I need some assistance please.
Kitchenaid Superba 3 years old
Ice bucket kept freezing over so the dispenser would not work.
It does not make Ice now. The water still dispenses
I have the KSRG25F. Purchased in March of 03. I moved the 15 year old GE that it replaced into the garage. It has NEVER had a service call or a problem. Still runs like a top. The new Kitchen Aid has been nothing but problems. I have replaced a compressor, the ice maker, and the wheels. Today I called for service on the ice maker. This is the 4th call on the ice maker! This is my first and last Kitchen Aid appliance.
yeah my water is dispensing, but the ice maker quit working out of nowhere
I have a KitchenAid Superba refrigerator which has stopped making ice several months ago and can't seem to fix it.
My ice maker went crazy and wouldn't STOP making ice - then it stopped working. So I turned it off and bought ice for awhile. Then about a week later I turned it on...and again it wouldn't stop....and again it quit...
