The most important Blue Screen of Death troubleshooting step you can take is to ask yourself what you just did.

  • Startup using Last Known Good Configuration to undo recent registry and driver changes.
  • Use System Restore to undo recent system changes.
  • Roll Back device driver to version prior to your driver update.
I would suggest to use a system utility tool like Reginout to fix this problem instantly.

SOURCE: Problem with upgrading my acer extensa 5620z memory to 4GB

The Extensa 5620z comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory. That's two sticks of 512MB. This unit technically supports 4GB; 2 x 2GB modules. However, unless you're running a 64-bit operating system (if you have to ask how you'd know, trust me... you're not) then only about 3GB will be usable. There's no fix for this, it's just a fact. All standard 32-bit operating systems are coded this way
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: blue screen with 4gb, OK with 3gb of RAM on 6720s

A 32bit OS and Processor is able to Identify and work with upto 3GB of memory.
That may be the cause of the issue
Even if any computer has more then 3gb of ram it will showup only upto 3gb.
if you install 4gb or more then also it will not show up.

.........and second reason, may the ram that you are using are not identical or one of them is not working properly.
Check the specifications of the ram and also try using one a time.

Thanks and Regards

MY RAM IS 4GB BUT BUT COMPUTER SHOWS IT"INSTALLED MEMORY(RAM): 4GB(3.50GB USABLE)" CAN I CHANGE IT TO 100% USABLE?

NO
the maximum useable ram is less that stated because a part is used for the operation of the ram in storing and moving data around the ram
if you want more ram insert another ram board of the same type and capacity

Hi I have asus taichi-cx020p 13.1", there is 4G RAM onborad, how can i increase RAM to 8G?

Charlie , you'll most likely only to see a single RAM slot but If there's a single RAM slot, that's fine. Just discard the 4GB for an 8GB.

I recently added 2 sticks of 1 Gb Ram to my desktop, to now have a total of 4 1 Gb sticks. This newly added memory is PC2 @ 5300Mhz speed. The older 2 sticks of 1 Gb memory are PC 2 @ 6400 speed,...

It depends on what you would like the end result to be. If you need to multi-task, and have 10 windows running at once, go with the 4GB @ 5300 because while it might take a little longer your computer will still be able to handle all the information. However if you are just using it for light browsing and would prefer speed over bulk (when it comes to data processing) go with the 2 @ 6400. I don't think it would be worth it to get 2 more @ 6400, technology is advancing so fast. If you have 60 bucks you can upgrade to two 4GB @ 10600 (8GB total for $60) 1333MHz PC3. Lookup Corsair XMS3 4GB RAM.

I have a G41T-AD motherboard i installed 4GB of RAM in it on wednesday and since then it keeps blue screening saying to check my hardware is there anything that i can do for this issue

Test the Ram dimms, one at a time. It sounds like you may have a bad module. Carefully reseat each one. And ground yourself to avoid static electricity.

OS not showing full RAM

Hi Shibbymusic, as with most Asus boards if not all! The MB
A8N-E does not show all of your 4GB memory. See this FAQ;

Like you, I too have 4GB of memory.
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe w/4GB memory only see's 3GB
The bios displays 3GB during boot up & so does windows XP 32bit.
You might want to think about upgrading to 64bit os.
Updating your bios should help as well.
(See A8N-E Bios version 1010); http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=A8N-E&SLanguage=en-us

Thank you for using fixya!
