There is a factory service bulletin for the P1383 code on Jaguar model S type. The factory recommends reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to repair the problem.

If you're running windows 7 32 or 64 bit, use a windows 7 disc install it, let it load up, click on the language you're using, english, what ever, click on you yes tab but when the install windows is there, go down to the left bottom & click on repair. When the repair options load up, you can use control prompts & try to repair the master boot record, typed like this: Note: There is a space between exe & /, so use your space key. so type- bootrec.exe /FixMbr, then press "enter" key. If that doesn't work, type bootrec.exe /FixBoot, then press enter, if either were what was needed, you will get a message telling you that it was successful. Close it & then reboot your computer.
Now this is for a computer that turns on, goes to the manufacture splash screen but then goes to a blank screen with a blinking courser at the top left. Hope that this works. You needed to put more infor like what windows version you are using... Dan

Repair a Dead SATA Hard Drive
A SATA hard drive is drive that uses the SATA interface standard when sending information to and from the system memory on the computer. Repairing a dead SATA drive might seem impossible, but you owe it to yourself to at least attempt a drive repair before giving up and purchasing a new hard drive. Accomplish this with the disk repair tools in your computer's operating system.

Click the "Start" menu. Type "cmd" in the "Search" box and press & quot;Enter." Type "chkdsk x: /r", substituting "x" for the letter of the supposedly dead SATA drive. Press "Enter" to run the drive diagnostic and repair utility. The computer will attempt to repair and fix the dead areas on your SATA drive.
