Device shows working properly but it wont play dvds or blu rays
You need to check whether it is the problem of your Blu-ray player or Blu-ray disc.
If your Blu-ray player hasn't been updated for a long time, then you should go to the official site of the Blu-ray player to download the latest firmware and update it.
If you Blu-ray player is physically damaged, then you have to buy a new one.
If the region codes of your Blu-ray player and Blu-ray discs don't match, then try to use Leawo Blu-ray Copy to remove the region code. Also, you can use this software to make physical Blu-ray to digital, so that you don't need to watch Blu-ray through the player.
Maybe there's something wrong with the Blu-ray and DVD lasers. You might get the lasers replaced or get an external Blu-ray drive. Usually a Blu-ray drive can also read and play DVDs as well. Tip: you can get your Blu-ray/DVDs ripped to your laptop, it'll make watching them on your laptop easier. SOURCE: Can't get Blu-Ray DVDs to play through my Acer laptop to LCD TV
The specifications of this laptop states that it has a Dual layer DVD R/W drive. This drive can only play DVDs and CDs but not BluRay discs and it can burn single and dual layer DVDs and CDs.
SOURCE: Driver of blu ray for my aspire 5536
The standard specs for all of the 5536 models show equipped with a Super-Multi drive which capable of many CD and DVD formats including double layer DVD. However, I don't see support for Blu-Ray.
You could add an external Blu-Ray that connects to USB or FireWire (1394).

Hi,
You need to download K Lite Codec Pack (Its Free) and you can install it via....... or you can try googling it.
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
It contains all the different audio and video codecs. Your computer might not play it because it doesnt have a blue ray codec by default
