That printer will work in both direct thermal (no ribbon) and thermal transfer (ribbon) modes. If you are using media designed for thermal transfer printing and don't have a ribbon it won't print anything.
Remove and inspect the ribbon cartrige, wind the knob and make sure that the ribbon moves and reinstall. Check that the correction tape is installed properly. Check that the ribbon plate assembly is not in the correction position. Try CODE RESET (Q key)
Be sure the the ribbon has not run out or is jammed. You can test this by rotating the colored knob on the top of the ribbon cartridge in the direction of the arrow imprinted the housing.
If not, do you hear the click of the hammer striking the printwheel? If not you may have a defective main board or hammer solenoid.
Did you put a ribbon in your printer? The zebra does both direct thermal and thermal transfer, but you need a ribbon to get it to print AND have to change the settings to let the printer know that it needs to use the ribbon instead of direct thermal.
I would recomend checking the ribbon cartride fitted in the pritner. Ensure the ribbon is correctly mounted on the ribbon drive shaft.
Ensure the ribbon is not jammed.
Ensure the print head gap is not set to close the ribbon is becomming jammed
Try changing the ribbon cartridge for a new one.
Chances are, you didn't installed the ribbon correctly...
A. Open the printer cover B. Use a pin to guide the ribbon between the print head and the ribbon guide, then turn the ribbon tightening knob to help feed the ribbon into place, it shouldn't be twisted or creased. C. Slide the print head from side to side to make sure it moves smoothly
Either the back light lamp is burned out or if it is also a flip face, then you may have a "wire" on the ribbon cable to the flip face that is broken and then you would need to replace the ribbon cable. If it is a flip face then I would strongly suspect that it is the ribbon cable.
