Monitor went black completely dead

Similar to others I've read my monitor is dead but how do I know if I need an inverter or AC Adapter? I'm thinking adapter because it was cold which should mean no power, correct?

Also, saw a reccomendation to order these at www.3rd-rocks.com, but both items were out of stock.

Thanks,
Chris

I was working as usual on my PC, when all of the sudden my monitor went black. The only thing that called my attention is that the light, which indicates the connection --or no connection--between the PC and the monitor, was green. So, my first impression was to think that the integrated circuit of the monitor blew up, or the LCD lamp (?) burnt out.

Hi...there,
A simple way to check your AC Adapter, plugged into a socket and see if it lite green... If you don't see a green light lite on the AC Adapter, then it's DEAD... You can order the AC Adapter @ www.3rd-rocks.com but sometime you need to replaced both. Have a nice day!

Dell E173FP 17 monitor went dark and not working. I restart the pc it shows for only few second and went out again. I plug in one other monitor in my pc and it work fairly well. So something not right with...

Hi!

There are three possible cause why your monitor went black and start working..

1. If your monitor is dead set.. no reaction or lights turn on after power on.. then it needs to check if there is blown capacitor in its power supply section..

2. The high voltage ballast transformer of the backlight inverter is burned - it needs to be replaced so that it will not have a direct effect on the power supply section of the monitor.

3. The backlight inverters are all busted - the backlight was located at the upper and lower back edge of the monitor.. If these lights are busted then all that will be seen in your monitor is black screen.. It will need to be replaced so that image display will come out from your screen..

These 3 reason and its solutions can only be done by yourself if you have the knowledge, proper skills and the right tools to open the back cover of the monitor and replace the problem parts....

Otherwise, bring your monitor to a credible technician and if there is warranty,, avail of this...

Hope that answer your question..

Much appreciated if you rate this help..thanks..

Compter on and running but no LCD image

Have you connected to an external monitor, just for fun? Try that, don't run off the battery, in fact, take the battery out. Use only the ac adapter for power. Now boot pressing f1 repeatedly until you get into bios. Just let it remain in the bios screen for a few minutes, long enough to prove you don't have a hardware problem such a s the inverter going out, etc.
Then allow it to continue to boot to windows. If it appears on the external monitor (may need to hit Fn+F5 or F&, to utilize both monitors), but not the system monitor, it's possible you've got a bad piece of hardware such as an inverter going out, or even the backlight failing.
If there's no image on either monitors, but you hear the usual sounds of windows booting up completely, it gets tricky.
First think is to update to most recent bios.
Floow the directions from the Lenovo site for the T20. Use the floppy image; it's just easier.
Good luck.
Let us know how it's going.

Monitor went black and now stays black after

pdshapiro, Learn flashlight test in my fixya profile to determine current state of shutdown of units "switch-mode-power-supply"... Then do more reading and visit some of the web links mentioned in my many responses to other owners of Black or Blank n Black screen monitors. You will find out all you need to know and all options if you read my older (late 09 posts) responses to other owners of same or similar sympton ccfl back-lit lcd monitors. JUST DO SOME READING FIRST. Then come back to this post and give it a rating if it steered you in the right direction. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Hi, when I turn my computer on the monitor shows image briefly then turns black, it stays this way until I turn the monitor off then on again, what is wrong with it?

diva_5, You will need to use warranty first. If warranty not option, You or qualified electronics technician will need to repair the "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply" so that the CCFL tubes will stay lighted for another 2000 hours. That's my best guess. Do some reading in my and other fixya lcd monitor tech's profiles for lots more info on this very common CCFL back-lit lcd monitor problem. If reading and DIY repair isn't your thing, then skip it and trade-in unit for new. DIY repair can sometimes cost less than $10 if you have tools and know how to solder. Contracting out the work will cost upwards of $40-$70. Read before you do anything about your "black" or "blank n black" screen monitor!!! Good kuck with repair. 12fixlouie

I have the same issue with a 1515L Monitor. It comes on for a split second and goes off? or picture goes away. Picture looks fine at all resolutions and touch screen is working also.

jcleary916, You or qualified electronics technician will need to find out why "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" fail to sustain output of white light that enables you to see what is on the LCD panel. CCFL inverter supply probably needs work on it. Do some reading in my and other fixya lcd monitor tech'e profiles. You will be amazed that so many other owners of ALL brands of CCFL back-lit monitors have YOUR exact same symptom as your's does. And then think about all the other owners who don't find their way to fixya for an answer!!! Keep in touch by doing another comment to this one after you do some reading. Then let me know what you are willing to do about your BLACK or BLANK n BLACK CCFL back-lit LCD monitor and how old it is!!! 12fixlouie
