Hitachi 46F500 will not recognize a Playstation 3

I am trying to connect a Sony Playstation 3 (Blu-Ray player) to the front input on my 46F500 TV, but the TV does not display anything. Is there a specific input that I have to use, or is this TV not compatible with the Playstation 3 system?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

It is my understanding that the 46F500 HD Ready only goes to 1080i and for Blu Ray you need 1080p. There are no ports for this format.

I have red, yellow& white come out my dvd and only white & red plug in on the back of my tv how do i make that work and which source and channel i put the tv on

Red and White are audio, yellow is video. On the back of the TV there should be a yellow jack if it takes external inputs. There are two ways to connect your Blu-ray Player to your amplifier. Via HDMI output: Connect the player's HDMI OUTPUT to the corresponding INPUT on your amplifier using an HDMI cable. If your amplifier has an HDMI OUTPUT, connect that to the HDMI INPUT on your TV using an HDMI cable. See if these links help.

How To Reset Your Blu-ray Player To Factory Defaults (BD-C & BD-D Models)
Page 1
Page 1. Reset Your Blu-ray
  1. Power on your Blu-ray player and tune your TV to the input where the Blu-ray player is connected. For example, if the Blu-ray player is connected to HDMI 1 press the TV input/source/line button to tune your TV to HDMI 1.
  1. Remove any disc from the player and then press and hold the Stop button on the front of the player, not the remote, for about 8 seconds or until the front display reads 'SETUP'. 'Resetting all settings to default values...' is displayed on your TV screen as the Blu-ray player powers off and resets.
  2. reset%20message%20screen.jpg
    1. The Blu-ray player is automatically powered on after the reset and the select Language screen is displayed.

My new BluRay player has HDMI output for both sound and video. My Receiver, however, does not have the HDMI inputs. Can I use HDMI direct to TV, and use Optical connection to receiver for audio? Sony...

Yes, you can connect the HDMI Cable from the Blu-ray Player to the TV directly and then, connect the Digital Optical cable from the Blu-ray Player to the Receiver.

Not getting a picture on my sharp 37' lcd 1080p tv

Not sure if you still need help but I will suggest a few things if you have not solved the problem or returned the unit.

Have you tried connecting it to one of the other HDMI inputs?
Have you also tried using the component video out from the Blu-Ray to one of the RCA inputs on the TV to see if the player is working at all? Is there another TV that you can connect it to, to test the player?
Without knowing the model of TV I am limited to solutions I can suggest. Try those and if you need more help, let me know.

Cheers

HDMI hook-up

Try scrolling thru the TV's video inputs. When you get the right one, the circuit will automatically recognize it and play provided it's connected properly
