Remove the RTC battery and reset BIOS password?
Not happening.
There is a capacitor, or capacitors, that keep a residual charge, and enough power to keep the BIOS password set, even after removing the RTC battery.
(Real Time Clock Battery. Same as CMOS battery )
BUT,...if you wish to try it;
This is an HP Compaq G62 series Notebook PC. The HP Compaq G62 and Compaq Presario CQ62 series are alike,

Scroll down to Step 1 photo.
The Compaq Presario CQ50 series, and the Compaq Presario CQ60 series laptops, change in the design of the covers on the bottom of the laptop.
The Harddrive Drive Bay cover is still the same. (CQ60 series compared to CQ50 series)
The cover that changes is the Memory Module Compartment panel.
In the CQ50 series it is two pieces. The upper left rectangular cover is for the Wireless Module. (WLAN Module Compartment )
The rectangular cover in the middle, to the right of the WLAN Module Compartment, and above the Harddrive Bay cover, is the Memory Module Compartment.
1) ALL power removed. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.
2) Remove the Harddrive Bay cover.
(Two Philips screws on one end - Loosen
Cover lifts up on screw side. Other side has tabs that go into the Base Cover )
3) The small plastic 'bag' you see contains the RTC Battery.
It has two wires that come from the bag, and go to a small white connector.
This connector plugs into the motherboard. Simply unplug it.
A) Take your ID, a credit card, receipt of purchase for the laptop, and go down to the nearest authorized HP dealer, or repair shop.
B) They will obtain a Master password from HP.
With it they are allowed to change the BIOS password to what you want, or remove it. The master password stays with them.

You will have to remove the power cord, remove the batteryand remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On mostcomputers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmosbattery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will needa small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will beinside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard. Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put itback in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'llprobably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will haveforgotten the date, time and password. If the password is not reset then you might have to go and remove a Pin from the password jumper on the motherboard. I would consult the user manual and see how to do it.

The only way to reset that password, I found was to completely take it apart and remove the motherboard battery. No fun. 2 thumbs down to HP and their stupidity. Thank God, at the last minute before I was about to have to break the casing, the owner called me and said he remembered the password. My advice to anyone who owns one of these - NEVER set that password!
