Hi Freda,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC07. Although I note you've already checked for blockages, I'd encourage you to follow the simple steps shown in our online Support guide, just in case there's anything you've missed:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. We recommend using cold water, without any detergent. Please make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it - this can take at least 12 hours, and it may help to leave it somewhere warm, such as in an airing cupboard, or by a radiator.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

SOURCE: Suction

Might be the hepa filter needs cleaning? This is located in the housing on the side of the cleaner at the bottom (see your manual to find it). It is a big spongy ring which Dyson say you should remove once a month and wash in warm water. Dry off and replace in cleaner when completely dry. I've found this works and the suction is like that of a new machine!

SOURCE: No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

Kind regards

SOURCE: Dyson DC07 bagless - upright mode v poor suction, wand mode ok

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bleed valve is activating which only happens when there is a blockage.

We would recommend following the full blockage through as outlined in your user guide or in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time the reason why the vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this.

Decreased wand suction

The blockage could be in the wand itself or in the entry duct of the machine. Take the wand off, look through it and if you can't see light coming through the other end, there is something stuck in the wand - take it out with a long object like a metal hanger...if the wand is clear, call the Dyson helpline - they will do a thorough blockage troubleshoot over the phone and clear the blockage.

Lack of suction in hose

That popping sound is the bleed valve activating - it indicates that there is a blockage in the machine somewhere, probably in the wand if you're saying that there is no suction in the wand.

- Take the wand off the back of the machine - press the two gray buttons to separate it from the hose - hold the wand in the air and look through it - if you can't see the light coming through the other side there's a blockage in the wand - taka a long object like a meytal hanger and remove the blockage.

If that's not the problem, call the Dyson helpline for further troubleshooting, they know what they're doing.

Suction

If the wand alone causes a suction loss, there are only a couple of issues:
  • leakage
  • blockage
If it is leakage, remedy the defect or install the wand correctly.  If it is a blockage, you'll have to find and remove it.

I lost the manual to my vacuum

Hi.

If no suction from hose check the following.
The (U) shaped inspection port at the back of machine where flexi hose enters has not come off or has a blockage.
Remove flexi hose from rear of machine once off slide it fully up the wand handle hold handle end up to a light & look up the pipe for blockages.

Check side premotor filter.
Does it pick up ok when using to vacuum carpets or is that got bad suction to ?
