Click this link to go to the RCA support page. Under the light bulb, click "For TH1102 click here". This will download the firmware for your Pearl. Plug in your mp3 player and run the file. This will delete any songs or data currently on your mp3 player so back up your songs if you can.
I was having trouble with my daughter's MP3. The RCA website said to download Pearl Firmware (Version 2.) (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=25). I did, several times, but it would not work. Finally, I cheked the box "Format Data Area" under Download options. Once I did this my computer immedialty saw the Pearl and I was able to re-load all my daughter's songs in Media Player.
I hope this helps. I was so worried that I was going to have to buy her a new player.
P. 11 of your manual is the most helpful. You can use Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player 10. Microsoft has video tutorials and help files on their website - I have also written an article about the subject in the "Tips & Tricks" section
First, just try unplugging and replugging the player properly to make sure it is not just a minor problem. If that fails, reformat your Mp3 player inside Windows Media Player - check out my "tips and tricks" on reformatting Mp3 players for more details on how to do this.
And when you run it, click the checkbox for "Format Data Area." When the message comes up saying you want to delete all the files, click "yes-" it's worth deleting all your songs if it works properly afterwards. You'll have to re-sync your songs and the downloads take forever, but it works.
