I can't find how to adjust the brightness of my screen in Window Xp on an MSI laptop

Down button right hand side there is a battery sign with charging click on that.
Click on ADJUST SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
Down you see SCREEN BRIGHTNESS (written now you can increase and decrease the brightness)

Go to control panel
window vista:- CLick on left hand side CLASSIC VIEW
Window 7:- in address bar click and sellect ALL CONTROL PANEL ITEMS
Now click on POWER OPTIONS
Down you see SCREEN BRIGHTNESS (written now you can increase and decrease the brightness)

Line faults & possible causes to LCD is given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; (Exclude the model number), in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

How hard a time is it? Maybe your screen is going bad or the LCD Inverter is bad.

Press and Hold the FN function key located at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the key that makes the display brighter or darker. There will be one key for brightness and one key for darker. Normally it will have the icon of a sun or washer with the up or down arrow.

You could buy a laptop LCD cover to make the screen darker.

You don't say how big the screen is, what connectors it has [VGA (Analogue), DVI (Digital) or HD (High Definition)] or which Operating System you're using.

Right click on open space on your desktop.

Properties > Settings (XP)

or

Personalize > Settings (Vista, Win 7)

Left click & hold on the slider and slide to adjust resolution.

You are given the option to test and accept each setting change you make.

When satisfied, Apply > Yes > Ok. Then restart the computer.

If your screen is large and has Digital and/or HD capability and the above advice does not help you find a resolution setting thast completely satisfies you, you may need to consider a dedicated PCI-Express Graphics Card to upgrade your graphics performance and give you a wider range of resolution options.

Here's how to adjust the screen brightness for a laptop in Windows 7:

1. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options.
2. Click on "Change plan settings" for your laptop's selected power plan (either Balanced or Power saver).

Examine the keyboard. There should be a symbol on most of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.). Look for one that looks like a sun or lightbulb, either with an arrow pointing up or with the sun/lighbulb filled in. Hold the 'Fn' key, and tap the up/bright sun/lightbulb key a few times. The screen should increase in brightness.

If you cannot find the specified keys, you may be able to adjust brightness from inside Windows. Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and open 'power options'. Look for a sun and moon with a sliding bar between them. You might also be able to adjust brightness by customizing your desktop (right click on the desktop and look for the proper menu).

it is just probably the brightness settings. to adjust brightness, simply go to control panel, if you are watching folder wiev, where you see all options you have, find the one saying power settings, now there should be, either in the tab to the left, or in the main-window, a link saying adjust brightness, follow that link, and you should be able to adjust your screens brightness. But, if your setting are divided into category wiev, i.e. hardware and sound, user accounts and family setting and so on. Enter the hardware and sound folder, find the power setting link, either in the tab to the left, or in the main-window, when you have, follow the link, called adjust brightness, again, either in the tab to the left, or in the main windows.

Brightness is not adjusted within the windows operating system It is adjusted at the monitor.
