I know this product is from about 1990. Recently I made a red velvet cake and use this hand mixer it worked fine for the mix. After that used the mixer to make my own cream cheese frosting, and while using it the beaters froze up, so had to use stand mixer to finish cake. Today I am making a different desert with cream cheese. It starts by mixing 8OZ. cream cheese with 1 cup of sugar. I tried to use the Hand mixer again, and it won't work. When I turn it on the beaters will turn(spin) but when I try to mix the item I am using the beaters won't spin, it's like they freeze. I also my mom uses this when mixing potatoes for mashed potatoes throughout the year and mostly Thanksgiving time, where it is usually about 10 LBS.+ Any Ideas on how to fix this or should I just go buy a new one?
SOURCE: Mixer not creaming butter and sugar...
make sure you are using the right attachment. usually for batters you want to use the flat beater. not the dough hook. the flat beater looks like a triangle with lines through the center. and make sure you are using the correct speed on the mixer. start out at stir and then go up to no more than half speed. these mixers take a little longer to incorperate batters but they do a very good job at it. if the batter is thin enough you can try using the wisk as well. but only if it is a thin batter.
SOURCE: have a sunbeam heritage stand mixer model 2346-000.
Make sure the bowl is off to the side. I wouldn't get rid of a mixer just because the bowl doest't, if it's a good powerful mixer. There aren't many replacement parts available except directly from sunbeam. You need to get a replacement motor for the bowl turntable.
