Sony DSC-P100 Won't Power Up

My Sony DSC-P100 will not power up. I had just connected it to my laptop and turned it on when it turned itself off. It only got partway through the startup process when it died. I suspect a blown internal fuse but have no idea how to purchase, let alone replace a blown fuse. At this point I am willing to try anything as Sony told me their service fee is more than it would cost to buy a new one? Any ideas?

Check with some of the shops on the Fixya home page - Sony factory prices are ALWAYS much higher than independent repair shops. Simply replacing a fuse shouldn't be more than $75.

As you said there are SMD fuses which have blown off. Difficult to trace at user level. Approach a near by free lance service center for tracing with a multi meter. YOu can safely replace this with 0 ohms SMD resistor as SMD fuses are not available in small qty. If you need spare parts or service manuals do let us know.

Which OS?
Try this link to download updated software. click on download drivers, choose your camera, choose your OS.

Either this or remove your memory card and use a USB multi-card reader or if your laptop has the cardslot instead of docking the camea to the laptop.

Not sure what you mean? You have 16 single shots one after another Now what do you want to do? Turn the camera back to single shot? Read the Manual -Full manual in PDF format on disk Do something with the shots themselves? Use image editor in computer Do none of these? Try another way of putting the question
