When I press and turn the knob of the gas cooktop, gas is released but there is no automatic electric lighter to ignite - there is no sound nor sparkle. It works when I manually lit the stove. I can't find any battery replacement nor electric wiring for the 'lighter' as it's a built-in cook top on the bench.

No. The flame detector will cut off the gass if the central part of the burner, which is what ignites, is not hot. Look to see if there is water in the conduit under the tiny central core burner; blow it with an air can.

I have the same problem, I spilled soup one day and the igniter wouldn't work, then it was ok. Few days ago I turned the lock on, then off a few hours later and now none of the burners light unless I use a BBQ lighter.
My gas range electric lighter, the ceramic cylinder was chipped off on one side, thus the spark was low missing the gas stream. How to replace the lighter?
When I turn the know, there is not spark, I need to sue a lighter to light the burer manually.
