If you want a fixed decimal display mode, press SHIFT MODE 6 and then a digit specifying the desired number of digits after the decimal point.
If you want the calculator to decide, press SHIFT MODE 8 and either 1 or 2 to select one of the "norm" modes.
Be aware that if the magnitude of the number gets too small or too large to fit onto the screen the calculator will automatically shift to scientific mode no matter what display mode you have set.

Why do i keep getting x10 at the end of each answer

You're in scientific or engineering notation. Press SHIFT SETUP 6 followed by the number of digits you want after the decimal point to switch to fixed decimal notation.

I cannot get the answer in decimal format. I have tried everything in the manual, and also online suggestions. Here's an example: Evaluate: (.2) with exponent of 4... the answer should be .0016,...

In the default NORM1 display mode, values whose magnitude are less than 0.01 are automatically displayed in scientific notation.

Press SHIFT MODE 8 2 to select the NORM2 display mode. In this mode, the calculator does not switch to scientific notation until the magnitude drops below 0.000000001 .

This is all described in the "Calculation Modes and Calculator Setup" section of the manual, beginning on page E-7.

How do I change from having the answers displayed in scientific notation to normal number display?

You can set your display mode to FIX or NORMAL ( 1 or 2) if you have them. However if the result is too small ( less then 0.001) or too large the calculator will use the scientific format. Generally if there are not enough display positions to show your result, the calculator uses scientific notation.

1/1024--->9.765625e-4 How do I get rid

If the absolute value is less than 0.001 then the TI-84 automatically switches to scientific notation. This is just the way the calculator works.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

I have a TI30XA calculator and want to know how to multiply numbers using scientific notation. I have learned how to enter a number (e.g., 1.5 x 10 -6), but when I try to multiply it by something (e.g.,...

Press 2nd [SCI] to switch the calculator to display all results in scientific notation. The results are the same whether you do it in scientific notation or not, it's just how the number is displayed.

Scientific notation when not wanted.

Unfortunately, you don't. For numbers whose magnitudes differ too greatly from 1, the calculator automatically switches to scientific (or engineering) notation. You can press MODE and change the display settings, but there is no setting that will force the calculator to show this number without an exponent.

When i do a problem, the answer shows a number then the remainder shown 'E x' x is where the remainder numbers go. how do i get rid of the E and the remainders?

It sounds as if you're in either Scientific or Engineering notation. To switch to Normal:

Press MODE.
Highlight Normal on the first line and press ENTER.
Highlight Float on the second line and press ENTER.
Press 2ND QUIT to exit.

Hoe do you use logarithm on TI-36X SOLAR?

Basically you first have to put your answer into scientific notation by pressing the 3rd key then the 6 key. The screen display should change to one big zero and two small zeros.

I was workinggon the same problem with a -log of a chemistry problem to get pH and I knew the answer because I calculated it on it TI-85, but we are not allowed to use graphing calulators on the exam (:-((() so I had to figure out how to do it on this one!

For example, I had pH =-log(2.828947x10^4)

On the TI-36X you change to scientific notation using the instructions above. Once the three zeros enter on the screen:
[4]
[-]
[2nd]
[10^x]

1^-04 should appear on screen, then you multiply by 2.828947

[x]
[2][.][828947]
then your screen will show the answer in scientific notation.

2.828947 in big numbers and in small numbers -04
From there you simply press:
[log]
and your answer will show up as a negative number. Just take the absolute value of that and you have your answer. Took me like 30 minutes the night before a huge chemistry exam to figure that out! Hope it helps someone!

Calculate {H3O+} for PH of 8.25

It looks like you got the same answer. It's just that yours is in fixed decimal notation, while the one they gave is in scientific notation. Press [2ND] [SCI] to switch to scientific notation.
