Cruzer Micro issue

My cruzer micro 2.0 GB flash drive is not working, It started when my laptop with vista updated and then it froze while I had my drive in, so I shut it down and when it started up it only lights up but does not show up ANYWHERE on the computer. So I put it in my computer with xp (2 different ones) and its not showing up. it just lights up. I have valuble information on there, is there anyway to fix this or is it DOA?

SOURCE: Sandisk Cruzer Micro lights up but won't read

I would say it's DOA. These thing don't seem to have a very long life span, even though I have the exact same one but I'm expecting it to go out at any time. I had a 128mb that bit the dust the same as yours. But try those free data recovery software on the net you may get lucky???

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

try removing off the launchpad program from the pen drive through an XP system with this software and then try inserting it on the vista as an ordinary pen drive.

SanDisk Micro Cruzer reduced from 2.0 GB to 1.0 MB when reformated

Make sure you check to see if the File System is FAT32 instead of FAT or NTFS, this way you can have your 2GB back.
Try reformatting using FAT32.

Sandisk flash drive

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.

Sandisk flash drive

Vista has not been out long enough for any company to state that there product is compatible. I would check there website to see if they have updated drivers that will make the sandisk usb drive compatible. This may fix the problem!
