My PT-50LC Panasonic TV will not turn on. The power led is flashing orange once each five seconds. The manual says this means the cooling fan is not working, but I took the back off and checked the fan, and it is working. Then I took a external fan and set it up to blow on the lamp, still can't get tv to come on. Does anyone have a clue?;

SOURCE: Can't power up

The buzzing noise you are hearing is most likely the ballast fire, this is good. You most likely have a bad lamp which is the best case for you. I would recommend pulling the lamp out and looking at it to see if its physically shattered or not.

The instructions for pulling the lamp can be found in your owners manual. If you do not have this anymore just look on the sides or the back of the tv for a small door with a screw or 2 in it. take those screws out and the door should come off, then take the screw(s) out of the lamp and pull it out. if you see glass rolling around inside you will need a new lamp. Let me know and I will help you find a good one at a good price.

Hi,

The most common cause of Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TVs not starting is bulb failure. The PT-60LC13 users manual gives some help in translating the LEDs on the front of the TV.

If the TV worked normally for a period of time (months or years) and won't start, the most likely cause is bulb failure. There is no way to measure the bulb, sometimes the bulb is visibly damaged when it fails. Remove the Lamp Assembly and look at the bulb.

If there was an On-Screen Lamp Replace warning and TV won't start, bulb has failed.

The first step with all Panasonic Rear Projection TV "No Picture" problems is bulb replacement. If that does not remedy the problem, get a technician, there are no user serviceable parts. Guessing if the ballast, power supply, controller board or optical engine is faulty is not practical.

The Panasonic Lamp Gallery shows all Panasonic models and Lamp Numbers. There is also a link to Panasonic DIY bulb and lamp replacement.

Panasonic projection TV does not turn on.

Power LED flashes orange 1 x 5 secs. = 1 of 3 fans stopped. TEMP LED flashes 1 x 5 secs, = Temperature error. Lamp LED flashes 1 x 5 secs. = lamp ballast error. (check lamp 1st.)
Hope this helps.

Panasonic large screen Model # PT-61LCX65

Here is the proceedure to replace the lamp and reset the lamp hours.
Lamp Replacement Procedure:
1. Press the POWER button to turn off the power.
2. Wait for about 1 minute until the cooling fan stops.
Note:
The lamp cooling fan will continue to operate for about 1
minute after the power is turned off. Do not unplug the AC
Cord from the outlet until the fan has stopped. Avoid
interrupting the power by using circuit breakers or switchable
power strips.
3. After the cooling fan has stopped, unplug the AC Cord from
the outlet.
Note:
Please wait more than one hour before replacing the lamp.
[ Forced cooling function ]
If you need to replace the lamp more urgently:
- The Projection display has a forced cooling feature.
After the POWER button is turned OFF, and during the
first minute of the normal cooling fan operation, press
the VOLUME UP button on the unit and CH UP key on
the remote at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
The cooling fan operates for about 10 minutes. (LAMP
LED will flash 5 times every 5 second and POWER LED
will flash red for 10 minutes.)
4. Remove the Front Cover Unit from the latches.
5. Turn the Knob to the left.
6. Pull the Lamp Cover out.
7. Loosen the Screw on the Lamp. Then, pull the Lamp.
Note:
Because the Lamp may still be hot, use caution when
handling.
8. Install the new Lamp, and tighten the Screw.
9. Install the Lamp Cover, and turn the Knob to the right.
10. Install the Front Cover Unit.
Lamp Time Reset Procedure:
Be sure to reset the Lamp time to "0" after replacing the new
Lamp.
1. Plug in the AC Cord, and turn on the power by pressing the
POWER button.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button on the unit and
the SPLIT key on the remote together for over 5 seconds
in power on condition.
When the reset is finished, the display will indicate that the lamp hrs have been reset to 0 and the LAMP LED goes out.

Panasonic PT 50LC14 problem

You have to close the lamp door. It has a switch in it much like a clothes dryer door in that when it is open it wont operate.

TV won't turn on

problem is fan stoppage this is probable caused by excessive
dust in fan take off back and locate visually the cooling fans in unit
use canned air to remove dust until fan moves freely. if all fans
are clean maybe one fan is not giving rotation detect signal
look at voltage on white or yellow wire from fan s/b 5v then 0v
when fan rotates if one stays at 5v replace it

Panasonic pt-50dl54j

The 3 times LED code points to no fan rotation. There are 2 fans. Check the larger fan first, p/n = FBL12G12LS, located near the lamp. Even though that fan may be rotating, it may be slow.
thanks
