I am trying to hook up a midi keyboard to my HP Pavilion a1600n computer so I can notate music using 2008 Finale Songwriter. My computer and finale both indicate that my USBmidisport interface and driver are recognized, but I can only get Midi Out not IN. I have updated my drivers already. Any suggestions?

your audio are not in interface with your macbook it means to say, the common wire are not in the same connection. that why you only hear sound on your left headphone. in short your firewire audio is not compatible with your macbook. but you can rewire it with same audio plug. or replace the audio plug with the compatible one. when you do this, make sure that the common wire of your firewire audio and your macbook are in the same connection.
