Suddenly today after working for a couple of years all the lights are on solid and my wireless laptops can not find the router

To connect to your wireless network using Vista's WLAN Autoconfig, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Right-click this icon 5449-001.png at the bottom-right corner of the screen and select Connect to a network.

Step 2:

Select your Wireless Network Name or SSID then click Connect.

NOTE:
If the wireless network name or your SSID is not listed, the SSID Broadcast on the router might be disabled. For instructions on how to connect to the wireless network with the SSID broadcast being disabled, click here.
If the computer is not detecting any signal or is not seeing any wireless network, change the channel of the router. For instructions, click here.
If WEP/WPA is enabled on the router:
Step 3:
Enter your wireless network WEP/WPA Key on the field provided then click Connect.
NOTE: To learn more about WEP/WPA and other Wireless Settings, click here.

NOTE: Make sure Display characters is checked, to display the WEP/WPA key used by the router. You can get the passphrase or network key from the encryption that has been generated (if using WEP network security) from the router's web-based setup page. If you're using WPA network security, the network key is the key for passphrase.

Make sure you enter the wireless network's WEP or WPA key not the Passphrase.

It is also possible to make a wireless connection even if the wireless security is disabled on your router. If you don't see any network SSID from your network list, make sure your wireless adapter/device is ON and your router is in good condition. If your router shows any unstable occurrence, click here.

What is a WEP key or a WEP64 key I put in my 10 hex characters and nothing is happening what am I missing thanks for the help

WEP key is the "Password" for want of a better name that the "Router" has set on it at first "Setup" it is generated by the Router, if you don't know it, then you will most probably have to reset the router up again, this, when the "Key" is generated, this time, copy /pste the "Key" into a notepad document and save it. Now you use this "Key" when you have to Login to that Network, Router.

If I reset my d-link router will my household

If you set up your again with exactly as it was before the reset you (same WEP key, wireless network name) then your computers should just reconnect. If you're having to reset the WEP key, the worst that will happen is that you'll get a prompt to put in the new password the next time your computers try to connect to the wireless.

NB - performing a reset on your router will mean you have to set the thing up from from scratch so make sure you have your internet username and password to hand (if it's ADSL) and that you know what your old wireless network settings are before proceeding.

What is a ssid and a wep key. I am dumb.

Hi,
SSID is the wireless networks name you want to access.

WEP is a special hexadecimal key to secure your network means if you want to connect a wireless network you will have to put this key.
It will be provided by the admin

My xbox 360 wont connect to my friends internet. something bout a wep key. how can i connect?

You need to get the WEP key from the person that setup the network. The WEP key is a password that you setup to prevent outside users from connecting to the wireless network. If you are using FIOS for your internet provider, the WEP key will be printed on the router itself. If you provided your own router, then you need to get in touch with the person that setup the network. If you cannot get the WEP key, then you will need to reset the router to factory default. Most routers have a small button on the back of them. You need to hold the button in for about 20 seconds. This will reset the router to factory defaults. The SSID might  also change to another name too. However, the wireless network should be open after reset and no WEP is needed.

How do i hook up my ps3 to my network wirelessly

Make sure the same SSID and network key is configured on your PS3's wireless settings. To get the SSID and network key do the following steps.

1. Open your Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.1.1 on the Address Bar
2. It will prompt you for username and password. Type admin on the password, leave it blank for username. If admin password doesn't work, type your own password.
3. When you get to the Setup page of the router, go to Wireless tab. Take not of the SSID or the Wireless Network Name.
4. Now click the sub-tab Wireless Security that's under the Wireless tab. Take note of the Security Mode. If it is WPA-Personal, take note of the Shared Key or Passphrase. If the Security Mode is WEP, take note of the WEP key # 1.

5. Now all you need to do is access the Wireless Settings of your PS3 and configure manually the SSID and the Security Key. Then reboot the router and PS3. That should do it.
